Hello Colorful People! I am so excited to offer to you my first online class. I couldn’t be more excited to share some of my techniques with you.

I love color!  I have always been drawn to big, bold color. When I paint, I want an unlimited color palette. In my paintings, I combine my love of color with my love of drawing the female face. Big eyes, full lips and wild hair are incorporated in most of my paintings. I want my paintings to emote joy and happiness.

To me, color equals emotion and expression. From the clothes you wear, to the color of your sofa, to the color you paint your walls, you express yourself with color. Equally, when you look at a painting, you can tell the mood of the artist simply by the color palette that the artist has chosen. Moody blues, fiery reds, calming soft tones or excited neon hues immediately draw you into a painting and set the tone for your experience with that painting.

I am so happy to share this experience with you all and look forward to see you in February!

Love,

Heather Foust

When you come across someone colorful and vibrant maybe in the present it isn’t so interesting, but, in the past, it sheds a wonderful light onto living life.

In this course, we will complete some warm-up exercises, three main projects, and a BONUS project!

First, I will show you how I start all of my paintings. We will be using a lot of color and getting messy! You will see that the beginnings are beautiful enough to stand solely on their own when we add some collage to the backgrounds.

Next we will expand on our background paintings by creating a portrait using a color blocking technique. I will show you how I create my stylized faces.

Finally, we will incorporate the body into the painting in an interesting way that the newest and most experienced artist can equally appreciate and execute. We will have a discussion on different ways to create a body even if you are new to full figure drawing.

By the end of this course you will have an understanding of the following concepts:

  • Being bold and courageous with color
  • Mixing colors in a way that doesn’t leave your paintings looking “muddy”
  • “Painting” using different tools, instruments and your own imagination
  • Using collage to create dimension and create a focal point for your painting
  • Creating a stylized face
  • Incorporating the body into your work without being a skilled illustrator
  • Creating your own style
  • Adding whimsy to your paintings

I will be actively involved with the class via Facebook during the week that the class runs and I will continue to be available to you after the week is over.  Don’t worry if you are unable to get all of the projects completed during the week that the course runs!  I will still be available to you after!  This course offer lifetime access!  You don’t have to worry about missing out or downloading everything right away!
