DESCRIPTION OF LESSONS
This course is comprised of five lessons. In lesson 1, I will share everything that I know about gouache. What is gouache and how does that differ from acrylic gouache? How is it alike or different from some of our favorite mediums like watercolor, acrylic and oil? We’ll talk surfaces, brushes, palettes, gotchas and personal recommendations and tips for using this fabulous medium. Lesson 2 is all about the supplies. I share insight on why I’m using each material over others, and guidance in choosing materials that will give you the best results. In lesson 3, we explore the strengths and differences of gouache vs. acrylic gouache, as well as practice techniques available to us, to prepare us for our gouache paintings.

Next we will move into painting two different portraits. The first portrait we paint will be of a man in traditional gouache. We will explore and take advantage of the unique properties and beauty that gouache has to offer. This portrait will be taken to a finished stage, with an extra video at the end to show how we can go extra with finishing touches. After that, we will create a finished portrait of a woman in acrylic gouache. We will explore and take advantage of the unique properties and beauty that acrylic gouache has to offer. This portrait will be taken to a finished stage, with an extra video at the end to show how we can go extra with finishing touches.

Guess what, I have also included a bonus video for you! I will be showing you how to create a wet palette! Excellent class. I learned so much about mixing and applying paints for skin colors. Painting the shadows of the portrait as layout was a game changer for me. I found that the instructions and demonstrations were exceptionally thorough. I love this class.
