DESCRIPTION OF LESSONS
This course will begin with a fun lesson exploring watercolor paints. It will give you some background knowledge on the medium and a bit more confidence as you work on the portrait lessons. We will be making a key to refer back to throughout the lessons to help us with mixing paint, and techniques to use. After that, we will move into our first portrait. In this lesson, we will paint a portrait of a girl with her eyes closes, and a bird friend on shoulder!
In Lesson 2, we will work on this beautiful redhead. This lesson will guide you in creating hair with texture and flow. We will also experiment with using multiple colors in the eye to create depth and interest. Lastly, we will add a message with meaning to our piece. Moving into our final portrait lesson, we will create a sweet pair of friends atop the girls head. We will work with shading techniques and value to create depth and interest in our portrait. I will share techniques to create hair with multiple colors. Again, we will add a sweet message to our work. I also offer a bonus lesson showing how I add words to my art, along with interesting backgrounds. This course is fun and relaxed making it accessible to all learners.

MEET ANGELA KENNEDY - ARTIST/INSTRUCTOR
I love mixed media, watercolor and really any art. I have been doing it all of my life but really got inspired around 2007. Since then I have made it my career. I love teaching online and sharing with others who want to learn.
PRIVATE GROUP JUST FOR YOU!
This course will have a private Facebook group just for you! The artist will be actively involved with the class via Facebook the first four weeks the course is open! After that the course will be a self-study. The artist may or may not be involved after the four weeks. We are looking forward to seeing your artwork!
COURSE SUPPLIES
Below is a list of the supplies that I will be using for the projects in this course. However, you are always encouraged to use what you have on hand.
- Strathmore 400 series 140lb cold press watercolor paper
- Windsor and Newton professional watercolor
- Prismacolor Premier colored pencil – light aqua
- Black and white gesso (I use liquitex and golden)
- Posca pens – black, white, aqua green
- Princeton velvetouch watercolor brushes
- Flat brush
- #6 round
- #2 round
- #2 long round
- #8 round
- Micron pens – 02, 03 black
- .5 HB mechanical pencil (any is fine)
- Blending stump
- Some sort of ceramic plate or pallet for mixing colors
