Would You Like to Learn How to Paint Contemporary Cityscapes of Your Own Surroundings or Favorite Places to Visit?

Join Maria Zinca in CONTEMPORARY CITYSCAPES IN WATEROLOR, where you will learn to capture your surroundings in beautiful, atmospheric paintings.  In this course, Maria will share her process as she paints a night scene with people and lights, a rainy day with street cars, and a sunny cityscape.  Learn to paint your favorite city scene or place to visit by learning Maria's tips and tricks when painting with watercolor.  In this course, you will paint large scale paintings, enhance your own photos to create your scene, mix your paints, explore what happens between brushstrokes, experiment with how much water to use, and more.  Maria will show you exactly how she follows her process in uncut videos!  Don't worry about making mistakes as this is how we learn, and part of the beauty of working in watercolors are the "happy accidents" that happen.  We hope to see you in class!

DESCRIPTION OF LESSONS

I am in love with cityscapes and I love to blend watercolors into this type of composition!  I have been painting in watercolors for about 10 years, and I have discovered, just as Bob Ross said, "There are no mistakes, just happy accidents."  In watercolor, this is exactly true!  I have learned a lot by making mistakes.  Most of my paintings were failures, but this is what I really want you to learn in this course!  It is okay to make mistakes!

I love to paint the city, especially MY city, Bucharest!  I want to capture the mood of the city it an atmospheric and expressive way!  In this course, I will be teaching you my favorite composition of color and contrast!  I will try to use all of my knowledge to show you how to paint a rainy day, a night scene, and a sunny city scape scene.

In the rainy day scene, we will include street car reflections, lots of red lights and brake lights on the cars, and more, to really capture the feeling of rain.  Our night scene, my favorite scenes to do, will be very dark, very obscure, with a lot of atmosphere.  I will show you how to create sharp shadow showing contrast between light and dark.  The final painting will be a sunny day.  I love to show how the light hits buildings, again showing shadow and light.  We will use line, value, and shape to create the mood of the city as we see it!

MEET MARIA ZINCA - ARTIST/INSTRUCTOR

mariazincaheadshot

I am a self taught watercolor artist, living in Bucharest. The lights and shadows laying on the streets always inspire me to paint, making me utterly captivated by the city life.  Watercolor knows me better than anyone else, watercolor is not only my friend but also a very tough and honest critic. When painting, I’m being my true self, continuously looking for improvement. Maintaining this by painting every day is something that I’m taking very seriously.

My special attention goes to mind-hands-soul relationship which keeps everything in balance. Mind sees what it wants to see, hands paint what they are asked to paint and soul gives flavor to all that.
Through my paintings, I’m trying to tell you a story, to depict an emotion, a feeling, something about being oneself. I’d like to show you what I see when I’m walking down the streets, this poetry that life is, silhouettes moving around, people, someone, anyone. That is what all my paintings are about.

I didn’t choose to be an artist, it’s just something inside me that I can’t and won’t escape from.
