DESCRIPTION OF LESSONS
In Module 1, we will begin by learning about the abstract structure of the human head. Having an understanding of how the head is structured, will help you to better understand how to draw it. I will share my method of how I break down the face into line and shape in the frontal portrait, profile, and three-quarter profile. From there we will learn some tips and tricks to use when we are ready to draw these portraits.
Module 2 will focus on volume and value. In order to create realistic portraits we need to understand what volume and value are, and how they can be used in our portraits. We will learn more about the infamous egg, and also learn more about grey scale. Understanding both of these ideas will enhance your portrait skills.
Moving into Module 3, we will reflect on all that has been learned thus far and think about how this new information can be applied to composition and the various portrait poses you may be drawing. Then it is time to practice! Module 4 will give you a few exercises to help you warm up for drawing portraits! You will create your own grey scale with my help! We will also learn more about light and shadow by drawing and shading a sphere, along with creating some thumbnail sketches. All of these are exercises that will help you with your portrait drawings. Finally, in Module 5, you will follow along with me in real-time videos (prerecorded), as we complete three portraits. The first will be a frontal portrait, the second portrait we will draw is the profile, and we will end with the three-quarter profile portrait. By the end of this course, you will have all of the tools you need to successfully draw a portrait in graphite! You will be more confident in your skills, and enjoy the process!

MEET JUAN PEREDNIK - ARTIST/INSTRUCTOR
My name is Juan Perednik, I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1989. I have been drawing since I can remember and it is one of the things that I enjoy doing the most, it is my true passion. Each drawing is a new experience, a challenge and an opportunity. Drawing is the most sincere form of art and the most solid basis for working with any other technique. I look at life and what happens to me through my lines. Drawing teaches me about frustration, perseverance, overcoming, insistence, patience, anxiety and the enjoyment of today and now.
This obsession with the line led me to work with people like The Rock (Dwayne Johnson), Josh Brolin, PayPal, MercadoLibre, Channel 13, Marcelo Tinelli, among many others. I invite you to accompany each other on this incredible and infinite journey full of lines that is drawing!

This course will have a private Facebook group just for you! The artist will be actively involved with the class via Facebook the first four weeks the course is open! After that the course will be a self-study. The artist may or may not be involved after the four weeks. We are looking forward to seeing your artwork!
