DESCRIPTION OF CLASS
Join me via a slide show where I will visually demonstrate how having a story can help us to connect more emotionally to a subject for portraiture. This will give you the background to this project.
We will then move on to a slideshow on photo references. In this slideshow I will explain how finding the right photo can make all the difference in portraiture in general and how I invested time and energy in a search, and carefully selected copyright free photos that would really help me in this project. This is a really critical step in having a successful outcome in any portrait.
We will have three main portraiture lessons for this course. Throughout these lessons you will be guided as we gather visual inspiration for our individual portraits. From there you will explore choosing and mixing a paint palette that will support the mood you want to evoke in your painting. The palette I will be using is inspired by landscape colours. Experiment with using dynamic angles to create an interesting single and double portraits. Throughout each lesson you will be introduced to techniques such as texture and markmaking, working loosely, and embracing mistakes. All of these lessons will help you to create romance and drama within your portraits!

I love Pauline’s portraits. I really wanted to know how she created these beautiful, loose and emotional images. This class did not disappoint! I learned how to create the portraits with emotional impact. You will learn about the color palette, the structure of the portrait and the “letting go”, all of which results in a very satisfying experience. Pauline’s instruction was excellent and her follow-up observations and suggestions in the FB group were truly helpful. I saw a huge jump in my portrait abilities. Take this class and ask for the instructor’s opinion. She was so helpful with her critique. You won’t regret it!
