I’m wanting to gain confidence and fluidity with painting portraits and figures…I haven’t drawn a figure since college…I’d love to improve my skills and techniques.

  4. I have your newsletter and I am familiar with your awesome classes!
    I will share on fb
I would like to learn about figure drawing. A step by step approach would be quite helpful.

  5. I have shared on FB, I already get your newsletter. I would love to win a spot because faces are one of the areas I am working on this year…faces and finding my style. So far I have found that by trying out other people’s style in my journal, then examining how I felt about doing it and what I liked and didn’t like about it, I am learning to paint like me. A course focusing on faces might be exactly what I need to progress. Thank you for the chance to win a spot.

  6. Already on Newsletter =)
And of course share on FB.
Hm, next year, I would love to dive more into 1/2, 3/4 and full figures with some focus on detail, as in hands, feet perhaps

  7. I believe I already get your newsletter and I will share on facebook. I would love to win a spot because I am energized by the creative drive of others. Faces are my favorite thing to draw and paint yet they are quite elusive. One slight turn changes everything. One raised eyebrow changes everything. I desperately want to learn.

  8. I want to refine my style and work on portraiture with faces at various angles (not just straight on looking at the viewer). Already receive the newsletter and love it. Have registered for three classes over the last month. ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. Thank you for this amazing opportunity, Kara! I would absolutely love to win a spot, because portraits are my favorite subject! As a young child I was always drawing – drawing portraits by references (of celebs) with graphite pencils. Graphite pencil is still my main medium, so I would really love to expand my mediums and be able to create (somewhat) ‘realistic’ portraits in for instance mediums such as pastel, watercolor and acrylics as well. Also, the line up of teachers is really amazing! <3

  10. Concentrated on portraits in this years LFI, have learned so much that your tantalizing suggestion of โ€œstyleโ€ is so very exciting. The teacher lineup looking inspiring and terrific. Hard to wait and already sharing it with friends.

I’m part of your Let’s Face It 2019 and a number of the other classes you’ve offered this year. While I learned a great deal, there is so much more I’m eager to see and put into practice. You offer such value, support and opportunity in your courses. I am grateful for finding you and will always share this opportunity with others.

  16. I have been slowing working toward finding my own voice. Studying each visual element and searching for what pleases me and how I can incorporate it in my work. Everything presented will fit where I am at in my own process.

  17. I am ready to elevate my art with the art of the FACE and learning how to convey expressions, emotions, angles, and subtle turns of the smile, eye, and gesture. Thank you for this opportunity. I am residing in Yucatan Mexico this year and would love to be able to capture the culture with more grace and skill.

  18. I am anxious to learn more about skin tones and everything involved in creating portraits-they are my passion. I am thrilled to have discovered your website! The online method is far better than reading a book. Thank you for your creativity.

  22. I love this class and right now I’m obsessed with faces. I’ve always wanted to take the class. I really need some work still on shadows and light. 24. I want to learn to get to the essence of a portrait/ figurative as simply and quickly as I can. I notice often seems portrait painters take many, many steps to get to the essence. Can I learn both or more types/ styles of this work. Interested in abstract/ impressionistic portraiture/ figurative including composition and negative space. Thx!!

  25. I need to learn how to size and add expression to my faces.. Aging features is something I totally fail at ๐Ÿ™ But I do love the learning process. Thank you all for the opportunity to win a place in this class. x

  26. What I want to learn next year? I’ve always wanted to draw humans. Not flowers, not doodles, not trees or scenery…Just humans. Teach me and I will learn.

  27. Thanks for putting together another amazing year of lessons Kara!
I’m really looking forward to the style development in next years curriculum. Currently I’m feeling really stuck in limbo, knowing there is a lot inside that needs to come out, but I’m not sure how to develop my voice. So many amazing teachers to learn from, so many amazing styles and techniques to learn from, and their insight and exercises for developing our own styles – 2020 is going to be incredible! โค

  28. Emotion and Age – bring on the squishy faces and wrinkles – enough of the niceties lets get to the meaty bits! Would love to see differing emotions and differences in age groups in portraiture, while i love all the beautiful thirty somethings, i have a bit of age on me and think it can be just as beautiful.

  29. I really want to work on fining my own style. I want to share with other artists, and get and share input in a constructive way. I just started painting again after about ten years off, so…I’m rusty. And, Ifind myself going in many ways, I think because I’m uncertain as to wh I am now. I just keep telling myself, paint from your heart!

  30. Excited for a new year of LFI, this will be my third!
Developing my own style has been a priority for me as of late. Cant wait to hear what others have experienced on their journeys of finding their styles.

  45. Thanks Kara, for the opportunity to win a spot on the new LFI! Last year has been hard and energy-consuming, so I missed many lessons of 2018 and 2019. However, I will be on board in 2020! What I most want to learn is how to keep going when you hit a plateau in your art, and how to loosen up more. I also would love to learn to portray different angles and emotions from not only form reference but also from my imagination.

  46. I’m coming back for year number five with LFI! It has been a fantastic journey, and I am incredibly grateful for the amazing lessons and generous teachers that have shared their talents. My main focus for the coming year will be to continue to develop (and lovingly accept) my own style. Seeing and trying the diverse skills offered by dozens of instructors in multiple mediums has provided the opportunity to discover what feels natural in my own expressive painting. Thanks so much, Kara. Did I mention that I would love to win a free spot for round number five?

So next year next try! I do not want to give up.
I would love to be part of LFI2020 and win a seat ?

  49. I love portraits, and I love expressive art. I’ve been trying to add emotion and expression to my portraits, but I always get caught up on details and realism. I need to loosen up, explore new techniques and “unlearn” certain habits and approach to my work.
