Ever After Book Blog Hop

Hello everyone!

I have some wonderful & exciting news! Tamara Laporte from Willowing Arts has written a 2nd book! It's called 'Ever After: Create Fairy Tale-Inspired Mixed-Media Art Projects to Develop Your Personal Artistic Style' and I get to give away a copy!

Let me tell you a bit more about Tam's new book in case you haven't heard about it yet!

Let the wisdom and enchantment of timeless fables and fiction help you achieve your creative goals! From celebrated mixed-media artist and author of “Create Your Life Book” Tamara Laporte, Ever After is a rich collection of step-by-step mixed-media art lessons inspired by fairy tales, folk tales, and classic fiction.

Based on one of Tamara’s popular series of online classes, Ever After addresses the most frequently asked question she receives from her students: “How do I develop my own creative style?”

In addition to the beautiful art lessons created especially for this book by Tamara and eight other noted mixed-media artists, each chapter offers creative exercises that invite readers to explore stories, their symbolism, and a specific aspect of style development as they work toward and ultimately achieve their artistic goals.

  • The Story of You. Explore the experiences, feelings, and ideas that stir your passion, and how to adapt and change motifs and other visual elements to make them your own.
  • Inspiration: How to Find It, How to Use It. Examine how to stay open to inspiration, incorporate it into your art practice, and integrate it into your artwork.
  • Comfort Zones & Productivity. Learn strategies for working through your fear and dedicating time to your artmaking.
  • Dealing with Challenges & Deepening Your Voice. Find guidance for starting a mindfulness practice to help you deal with harsh feedback, and for allowing yourself the joy of continually evolving your story, your message, and your style.

Ever After will teach you to tell your own unique stories through artmaking so that your wish—to become the artist you’ve always wanted to be—is sure to come true!

Guest Teachers Includes lessons and tips from these renowned mixed-media artists:

  • Kara Bullock
  • Lucy Chen
  • Danita Art
  • Andrea Gomoll
  • Annie Hamman
  • Mariëlle Stolp

  • Beauty & the Beast

This book is all that I expected AND so much more!  Not only will you learn more about different fairy tales, but you will also get to see several different artist's take on fairy tale choice!  I found it so interesting to read through each artist's thought process as she was creating her piece of artwork.  The book is also jam-packed with amazing, step-by-step photos, to help you follow along with the various art projects!  There is such a nice variety of projects, truly something for everyone in this book!

Well, first, this is the most beautiful book I’ve ever seen. Second, thank you so much for your contribution to it and for the giveaway opportunity! Much more importantly, Tamara is such an inspiration to me and her spiritual-creative approach to art has helped me, as a disabled artist, branch out and explore new areas of creative expression after losing many outlets due to illness. It’s like therapy to help me manage my pain and all the emotional consequences of living with chronic illness. I’m learning to reconnect with that wounded part of me so that I can constructively and healthfully work through it all, and I’m eternally grateful. I would adore a copy of my very own. My medical expenses are intense, so this would be truly the greatest gift. This book is the one thing that can help me do better at dealing with my feelings. The lessons will help me find my voice and feel whole within my creative self, and I really need help with that. I fell in in love with with mixed media and I love all things magical and fantastical, and I think fairytales are a perfect way for me to regain my confidence and find joy! I’m ready to be free of the obstacles and physical limitations that make their way into my mind and, far too often, nearly convince me that I won’t be able to do this, either. I know this book can help me! It’s come at the perfect time. Thank you again!

Such a fabulous giveaway this month! My particular fairy story is Little Riding Hood. Neither of us can remember why I became Riding Hood and he the Wolf but at the beginning of our relationship I painted him a stone of the two characters either side and for twelve years he has carried this stone in his pocket every day!

I would like to win a copy of this book because it looks amazing. It’s not only about Tamara’s gorgeous art and techniques but also includes lessons and tips from all you awesome and generous artists?! So yummy! Love…Love…Love! ???

I would love to get a copy of Tam’s Ev er After book because it would be a great learning tool for me as I journey forward with finding my own style of art work and getting to know me better. (On a side note: My Hubby wanted to buy it for me for my birthday but because it’s sold out here in the book store, he couldn’t get it for me-he knew I wanted it because I put it on my list of things I need on the family wall bulletin board here at home under my name 🙂 ha! ). So thank you for the opportunity for such a gift! <3

This book is the icing on the fairytale cake. I am a big fan of the Ever After workshops and fairytales. The Style development part I included in 2017 was really unique and learnt me a lot about myself. This book will complete the collection.

  18. Tenia Mason on August 21, 2019 at 11:07 AM

I would love to win a copy of “Ever After” because, not only is Tam herself an inspiration, but she has managed to gather several of the most talented and inspiring artists in the world The stories they tell transcend the fairytales represented in the pages and uplift and inspire the souls of women throughout the world searching for answers or an outlet for their own voice. Participating in and or several of the “classes” is truly a soul-freeing experience.
