WE DESERVE TO DO WHAT WE WANT
Hello My Favorite Friends! I just had the most amazing experience this last weekend and I knew that it was something that I needed to share with you all! I have been in my studio for almost TWO YEARS, but this past weekend, I taught my very first SOLO acrylic portrait workshop! If you know me well, you know how much I love to paint portraits. I have been teaching online for some time now, and I have taught everything from graphite, to mixed media, to charcoal, to acrylics. I love creating anything, really, but my favorite thing to do right now.....the thing that truly brings me the most challenge, and also the most joy, is painting! I love how it is like a puzzle! Painting a portrait is like solving a mystery. Each stroke gets you closer and closer to solving the problem, or creating your piece. So, you might be wondering why I waited so long to do my own workshop if I love it so much!
I DID NOT THINK THAT I DESERVED TO TEACH MY OWN CLASS!
Yep! You heard me! I didn't think that I was ready, or that I was "good enough" to teach my own class! I truly felt that I needed to know more, to understand more, to be a master, and well, just be better than I am. But, I really wanted to try, and so I took a leap and put up my workshop for sale! Guess what!? Within a couple of weeks, my workshop had sold out! That was the first event that helped me to realize that maybe I WAS ready to do this after all! Then, the workshop happened, and the result from what I shared with all of the artists, just amazed me!

Amazing stuff right!? Look at what everyone did in just two days!!! The best part is that everyone painted a loved one from their own photographs! They really went for it and I guided them! I really did it! I led a group of artists in my very own workshop. I didn't die! I actually made it through, and it went great! Guess what, if I had waited until I felt completely ready, then I would have never done it! What I learned this past weekend:
IF WE WAIT UNTIL WE'RE READY, WE MIGHT NEVER DO WHAT WE WERE MEANT TO DO AND COULD MISS OUT ON SOME AMAZING OPPORTUNITIES!!
If I had waited, I would have missed out on this amazing experience, which helped me to understand that I am ready, and it also presented future opportunities for me! If you are feeling scared about something, feeling like you aren't ready, feeling like you don't deserve it, then lean into the discomfort! Go for it! I will be here to support you all of the way because
YOU DESERVE IT!
I am thrilled to announce the opening of registration for my next workshop!! Yep! I am not waiting around or believing that I don't deserve it anymore! I will be teaching my next acrylic portrait workshop in September! It will be two days where I will guide you as we paint portraits from our VERY OWN PHOTOGRAPHS! I sure hope you will join us!
