This years(2018) LFI was my first year. I LOVED the format. I leaned about so many different artists I had never even heard of before. I love Alice Neel and Egon Schiele. I have fallen for the distorted expressionists.
Looking forward to the new format and having a concentrated time with new mediums.

  2. Wanda Abbing on September 4, 2018 at 3:34 AM

It’s hard to choose which artist inspire me. Of course Kara herself, Juna Biagioni does, Ivy Newport does, Lucy Cooke does, Robert Kelley does, Jennifer Bonneteau does, Joan Martin does… And also I see some names I am not familiar with. I think most of them inspire me! Love to watch the videos and other people’s interpretations too. That also inspires me. <3

  3. Theresa M on September 4, 2018 at 3:42 AM

I’m super excited by this amazing line-up of artists! I’d love to learn from Barbara Hack and Ce Duff – their work is brilliant. And I also welcome the opportunity to learn from Ivy Newport. i receive your newsletter and I shared the post via tweet.

  4. Kristen on September 4, 2018 at 3:43 AM

I have been very inspired by Juna’s style of creating and have enjoyed her lessons and classes. She was the reason I joined LFI 2018 where I found many more wonderful artists to inspire me. I am looking forward to 2019. Thank for the give away! I am already a newsletter member and am sharing on my FB page.

  5. Isabelle Lafrance on September 4, 2018 at 3:43 AM

What an amazing lineup! And super opportunity too! I’m really inspired by Kara and Ivy’s work of course, and by Céline Ranger’s portrait work 🙂

  6. Vicky Beths on September 4, 2018 at 4:00 AM

The line up is amazing and its great to be part of each years passing styles. I would love to learn off CATHRINE EDLINGER-KUNZE and BARBARA HACK and ROBERT KELLEY as i like strong statement work ATM. I receive your newsletter and have shared via FB.

  7. bancher on September 4, 2018 at 4:19 AM

I’m so excited to join for my 3rd year, kara! thank you for all the hard work you put into the course! I’m excited to see Jennifer Bonneteau here again, as she is one favorite of mine. I love the colors she uses. Mystele is always fun, and I’m pretty excited about working with Ce Duff! you have a lot of talent working alongside yours, as always!

  8. Helen Cook on September 4, 2018 at 4:22 AM

Wow what an amazing line-up! I adore Juna Biagioni! “Painting in the Soul” was the very first online class I took a year ago and learned so much. Taking a look at the list of teachers my immediate favourites would be Melinda Cootsona and Ce Duff, Robert Kelly might stretch me beyond my capabilities – but who knows!! I would be really excited to learn from all of them!!

  9. Aino on September 4, 2018 at 4:32 AM

This sounds like a fabulous lineup! I am happy to see Melinda Cootsona as part of the teachers as she is fantastic, but I also like figurative artists like Jylian Gustlin and Holly Irwin and Pauline Agnew.
I tweeted the post (https://twitter.com/ainoshp/status/1036938035907239938?s=19) and I already am a subscriber.
I think it’d be awesome to win a place!

  10. MischalaJ on September 4, 2018 at 4:38 AM

I am super excited too – what a WNODERFULLY energising and alive-feeling course with such inspirational teachers. I have been learning from Tamara LaPorte of Willowing fame, and I am also inspired by the great masters and new masters too. Rembrandt. Manet. Ruben. Chagall, SARK, Leonie Dawson, Max Ginsberg, and my own brother, Trevor Jacobs, delight and inspire me too. A sublime and eclectic mix of past, present and future artists all in one great creative ocean of lights and darks, divines and delights!

  11. lynnknoone on September 4, 2018 at 4:44 AM

I can hardly wait!! I am very new, having just retired, and finally following my dream! I loved LFI2018, but it really looks like LFI2019 if meant just for me!! I’ve been a subscriber to your newsletter and Blog Post for quite some time, so I cannot follow your first requirement of your instruction set, but I’m sharing the post via Facebook. I am so excited! I love the work, and am familiar with most of your new line-up! Weeeeeee!

  12. Linda Habros on September 4, 2018 at 5:03 AM

Oh and Juna and Lee Ann…I could go in because I love them all! Lol. Would love to win a spot! Thanks for your generosity! I’m on the notification list and will be signing up regardless!

  13. Lisa Oden on September 4, 2018 at 5:12 AM

Sounds like another amazing year! I have been learning so much in 2018 and love the approach you are taking to 2019. I love the pixelated approach and so am fascinated by watching Kara work. I have several others that I have learned lots from – Ivy Newport, Angela Kennedy, Mystele, Muriel Stegers…the list could go on quite awhile really. I am subscribed to the newsletter and shared on my facebook page. Thank you!

  14. Denise on September 4, 2018 at 5:34 AM

Sounds interesting and inspiring! In my mind every artist is inspiring- each one in her/his own way!

  15. Cheryl L Fowler on September 4, 2018 at 5:35 AM

OMG! This line-up is so awesome Kara!!! Super excited!!! Do I have a favorite artist here? Actually there are too many favorites! If I was to pick one I would pick Robert Kelly but then I would leave so many others out like Barbara Hack, Sabra Awlad Issa, Ed Boldero, Jennifer Bonneteau, Kelly Fowlkes, and Suzanne Munroe. Geeeez, this is a hard call but I am sooooo excited for October!!! I already receive your newsleter and I shared the post via FB. Thank you for such a super dooper opportunity.

  18. Cheryl L Fowler on September 4, 2018 at 5:51 AM

OMG! This is an awesome line -up Kara! Who would I love to learn from? Robert Kelly is the first that comes to mind but after looking at the lineup there are so many others that are tugging at my heart like Barbara Hack, Sabra Awlad Issa, Ed Boldero, Ce Duff, Jennifer Bonneteau, Kelly Fowlkes and Suzanne Munroe. I am so darn excited for January to get here. Living here in the midwest with our cold and snowy winters, I bet you don’t hear that said from many but it is a good time to hibernate inside with art classes. I already receive your newsletter and I shared via FB. Thank you for a chance to win this awesome opportunity!

  19. Gaylene on September 4, 2018 at 5:57 AM

Wow this is the first time that I will be joining Lets Face It! I love painting with Ivy Newport but look forward to learning from the other teachers also!! Thank you for this wonderful opportunity !! I already receive your news letter and will share on my facebook page!!

  20. kathy reed on September 4, 2018 at 6:17 AM

What a great lineup for 2019! Already receive your newsletter and shared this post. Inspired by all of the artists in your lineup, both those known to me and those unknown as of right now. Especially inspired by “incomplete” faces….whether that means subtraction of areas or addition of marks.

  21. Sandy in Ohio on September 4, 2018 at 6:23 AM

Thank you for this giveaway! I am so excited for 2019! I truly love drawing portraits and have learned so much from the artists as well as other students. Ivy Newport and Juna Biagioni have made me feel that drawing well is within my reach!

  22. Debbie Rooney on September 4, 2018 at 6:27 AM

Let’s Face It 2019 looks to be a fantastic continuation of my art journey of learning, along with all of the wonderful, kind, supportive women and men I have interacted with and become friends with. I am very intrigued with the 2019 format and artists and am hungry to absorb it all!!

  23. Silkina Jackson on September 4, 2018 at 6:32 AM

What a great lineup of instructors. Im most interested in learning from Danielle Mack & Mystelle. As a woman of color I’ve found it difficult to find ecourses/workshops that teach from this perspective as far as skin tones, facial features & hair texture/style. Not thhat I havent thoroughly enjoyed what Ive learned from amazing artists its just a perspective Id love to see more of. Im also very interested in the male instructors as well, again a perspective Ive not seen much of outside of tim holtz & andy skinner so Im really looking forward to learning from them. Being on disability income does not allow me to take all the courses Id love to so winning a scholarship to this one would be absolutely Amazing.

  24. Debbie Rooney on September 4, 2018 at 6:41 AM

Let’s Face It 2019 looks to be a fantastic continuation of my art journey of learning, along with all of the wonderful, kind, supportive women and men I have interacted with and become friends with. Sandra Biermann and Daniel Gerhartz are two of my very favorite artists. SANDRA for her emotive, soft pieces and DANIEL for the beauty and tenderness in his realism. I am very intrigued with the 2019 format and artists and am hungry to absorb it all!!

  25. April on September 4, 2018 at 6:45 AM

Soooo excited!! What a great variety of styles! I can tell that I’ll definitely need to step outside of my comfort zone and try a lot of new things with these lessons but I’m eager to learn so it’s going to be fantastic!

  26. Marie-Andrée Farley on September 4, 2018 at 6:45 AM

Such an amazing line-up of teachers! I would love to learn various portrait angles. It’s hard to choose wich artist I find most inspiring, they are all so talented! Now that being said, Jennifer Bonneteau with her expressive and colorful portraits is really inspiring me.

  27. Debra Rooney on September 4, 2018 at 6:49 AM

I am very intrigued with the LET’S FACE IT 2019 line up of artists and the framework of the course. I’ve so enjoyed 2018 and all that I’ve learned and all the warm and wonderful fellow artists that I’ve befriended and also learned from. Two of my favorite artist who inspire me are Sandra Biermann for her soft tender paintings, so emotive. Also. Daniel Gerhartz, whose beautiful portraits amaze me. Looking forward to this journey.

  28. Deborah Hulsey-Breining on September 4, 2018 at 6:51 AM

I can not tell you how much I have enjoyed the LFI journey and I know my work has improved GREATLY as a result also!!! I love the work of a great many artists and I am excited to see that Lee Anne Washburn is teaching. I have enjoyed being in classes with her and I think it is wonderful to see wonderful artists like her transition to being the teachers along with those with more experience like Ivy and Juna and Angela!!! All of next years group looks so exciting. Thanks for the chance to win! I will share on FB and I get your newsletter.

  34. Sandy Henderson on September 4, 2018 at 7:47 AM

Next year’s line up is SO INSPIRING! I’ve not been able to participate this year because of health reasons, but have still checked in on the classes I am thrilled to see some of my Instagram friends and idols participating as teachers in 2019, such as Ce Duff and Lucy Cooke!!! I’m loving the theme you’ve chosen, too. I own many mediums and can’t wait to utilize them. Kara, you are awesome! Thank you for the great care you give to your students. You bet I will be sharing this link for a chance to win a spot next year, too! I’m already on your mailing list.

  35. Margaret Kennedy on September 4, 2018 at 7:47 AM

Hello, Kara! Shared your post on my Facebook art page, which also gets shared on my personal page. What a marvelous line up of artists for 2019! So many have influenced me, currently Matisse, Juan Gris, and Fernand Léger.
Thank you, and best of luck to everyone!

  37. Elizabeth Corson on September 4, 2018 at 8:09 AM

I can’t choose just one teacher! What I’ve learned over the past 2 years of Let’s Face It is that the teachers that I’ve never heard of surprise me the most :). Kara, only has quality teachers so I’m excited for all that I will continue to learn in this amazing course!

  38. CHERYL JOHNSON on September 4, 2018 at 8:14 AM

Juna Biagioni is top of my list. Her portraits resonate so deeply. She’s an excellent teacher as well and creates an atmosphere where a beginner, like me, feels like she belongs in front of the easel.

    • CHERYL JOHNSON on September 6, 2018 at 4:48 AM

I am now a subscriber to your newsletter and shared your course on my FB. Looking forward to exploring the face and its teachings.

  41. Rossana on September 4, 2018 at 9:03 AM

As an old participant in LFI, I’m in till the start, I’m very curious to meet the new entry artists. For the artists that I just know I have to say that they are all amazing and inspiring and I learned a lot from eachone.

  42. Tanja Sandmann on September 4, 2018 at 9:24 AM

Hi Kara, first, thanks that you did it again! Another LFI! And thanks for the chance to win a spot! And my favorite inspiring artist – wow, so many. You. Robert Kelly. And a few next-year-not-included ones like Lauren Rudolph, Emma Petit and Tina Berendson. But I don’t know many of the new teachers, there most certainly will be new inspiring ones :). Yay, can’t wait!

  43. Beth Nowlin on September 4, 2018 at 9:29 AM

What a wonderful opportunity! I don’t know if I can narrow down who inspires me but I can mention that I have had the privilege of learning so much from Ivy, Juna, Kate and of course Kara. I would love the opportunity to learn from CATHRINE EDLINGER-KUNZE and BARBARA HACK, MURIEL STEGERS, ROBERT KELLEY and CE DUFF as I have been exploring some abstract techniques and painting negative space lately.

  44. Angie on September 4, 2018 at 9:31 AM

  45. Zoe on September 4, 2018 at 9:36 AM

I am not familiar with all the artists teaching for 2019. But I find Mystele’s work particularly inspiring, especially the way she teaches us to “find the face” within the random background.

  46. seekingmeme on September 4, 2018 at 9:42 AM

This course looks amazing! I’m starting Ce Duff’s Vintage Heart class tomorrow, but really want to dig deeper into portraiture. I have been a fan of both your work and Kate Thompson’s since my first experience with Life Book back in 2014. I’m also a fan of Chuck Close, Lucian Freud, and Jenny Saville. I am already on your mailing list and will be sharing this in the hopes of winning a spot in the class.

  47. Sally Van Nuys on September 4, 2018 at 9:49 AM

I am most excited to see what Ivy Newport and Lucy Cooke are going to share here.

Who inspires me for 2019? Kara herself, Juna Biagioni, Ivy Newport, Robert Kelley, Jennifer Bonneteau and I can’t wait to meet the rest of the line-up, who I have not encountered before!

  50. LindaRichards on September 4, 2018 at 11:01 AM

2 of my favorite artists that I acquire inspiration from are Ivy Newport & Van Gogh. I love to listen to Ivy’s voice as I try to doodle/draw & the colors that she uses makes me want to try to experiment with as well. Van Gogh’s use of yellows inspires me to want to try to create more with many yellows as well.

  51. Marianne Wesseling on September 4, 2018 at 11:05 AM

Hello Kara, I just found out about the “Let’s face it” class and this looks so great and inspiring. I’ve been drawing and painting for a long time, but only the last years I’ve done some portraits and I am so eager to learn more. I know it will take a lot of practice and I’m am ready for it….I would love to join in and winning a membership would be so awesome. I have seen some work of Robert Kelley, Barbara Hack and Ivy Newport and I love it. But they all look very promising to me. I shared the post and subscribed to the newsletter. Thanks Kara for this opportunity.

  52. Marianne Wesseling on September 4, 2018 at 12:39 PM

Hello Kara, I just found out about the “let’s face it” classes and I think that is just what I need to improve my drawing skills. I’ve been drawing and painting a long time and only the last years I started making portraits and I am eager to learn more. I know it will take a lot of practice, but I’m ready for that…I’ve seen the line up of guides and I am sure that they will inspire me to make art. Love your work and saw some great art of Robert Kelley, Muriel Stegers and Ivy Newport too, the rest is all new to me, like following online classes in English. I shared the link and subscribed to your newsletter and I wanna thank you for this opportunity of winning the free membership for Let’s face it 2019.

  53. ashsvisagepublic on September 4, 2018 at 12:56 PM

I have really enjoyed LFI2018 and learning about the art movements and artists within those movements. The 2019 line-up has some artists I’m familiar with and others I’m not, which I always find exciting. Thank you for the opportunity to win a spot.

  54. Lesley Howells on September 4, 2018 at 1:20 PM

I love everything Ivy Newport does! Totally inspiring. So many artists that I have learnt from but am loving the variety of Ivy’s work. Find myself becoming possibly more specific in my likes and interests with artists and sometimes that is good too! thank you for the chance to win a spot

  55. Randi Kuhne on September 4, 2018 at 1:29 PM

I mostly don’t use references, I just let things develop from my imagination. That said, I’m currently taking Lucy Cooke’s Quirky characters class, and she is definitely an influence and an inspiration!

I’ve complete 3 years of Let’s face it. I could hardly draw a triangle nose when I started. I love every instructor and every lesson. Grateful for it all. . Each had a tip, a method, a tool or a perspective that added to your own skills, styles and creative style. I hope I win – I would use my savings of tuition for supplies. Sharing on my fb page, Twitter and Instagram. Thanks Kara. The lineup looks awesome (singing “awesome” like Oprah❤️) Viv

Hi Kara- Thank you for the opportunity to win a class membership. Have been inspired by both you and Juna from the AJSS classes. So many of these artists you have gathered look fantastic. Would love to join you next year to learn so much more!!

  63. Iris Ztarr on September 4, 2018 at 4:37 PM

I’m inspired by Annie Hamman, Shiloh Sophia McCloud, Misty Mawn, Kara Bullock (of course! Not only for your portraits but also for putting together these amazing courses), Picasso, Modigliani, Juna Biagioni, Henri Matisse, Renoir and many, many other artists. Always look forward to learning and being inspired by new teachers.

  64. Suzanne Bombard on September 4, 2018 at 4:53 PM

I love the Impressionist artists my favorite being Mary Cassatt. All artists are an inspiration no matter their style as we can learn something new each and every day. But, in the line up of artists for LFI 2019, when I grow up I want to be Barbara Hack!

  65. Laura Host on September 4, 2018 at 5:36 PM

What a great lineup! 2018 was my first year, and I’ve fallen way behind – but in spite of that, I still have learned so much! Thank goodness for lifetime access! I am looking forward to working through the rest of the 2018 lessons and am excited to learn more in 2019. I’m inspired by the charcoal portraits by Kara and by Robert Kelley (his class is on my wishlist). I am also very inspired by Matisse, TC Cannon, Frank Stella, Irma Stern, and Jane Davies.

  66. Penny Gunderson on September 4, 2018 at 5:49 PM

I’ve been loving Let’s Face It 2018 and 2019 looks even better! I’ve learned so much from all the different artist/instructors and I’m loving trying all the different mediums. Thanks Kara for all you do to make figurative and portrait work accessible.

  67. Leanne on September 4, 2018 at 5:53 PM

Tamara de Lempicka is an artist that inspires me when it comes to Faces and Portraits – I love her paintings power and strength.

  68. iris1 on September 4, 2018 at 5:55 PM

2018 is my first year with the Lets Face It group and I am enjoying all the artists who we are meeting.. I have really enjoyed studying the different artists and learning about new styles all the time. My favourite so far have been Emma Petitt and Robert Kelly. Looking forward to the 2019 lineup. Thanks for a great course…..

  69. Anita Tovey on September 4, 2018 at 6:00 PM

Lauren, Robert and Juna inspire me but there are so many new names coming that look awesome!

  70. Shirley Gordon on September 4, 2018 at 6:15 PM

This will be my fourth year of LFI, and am so grateful for the the incredible artists that have shared their talents and helped guide me in developing my own art. Although some of the artists that have influenced me most (Annie Hamman, Emma Pettit, Paula Agnew, Lauren Randolph, Lora Murphy, Carol Macconnell, Jean Marie Smith, and Tina Berendsohn, to name a few) are not returning this year, the 2019 lineup is so wonderful, featuring the amazing Juna Biagioni and repeat instructor Jennifer Bonneteau! I’m also excited to see the introduction of a variety of new instructors whose work I’ve admired (Barabara Hack, Sabra Awlad Issa, Kate Thompson, and Ce Duff). Looking forward to being introduced to several new artists with whom I am unfamiliar. Kara never disappoints, and it’s going to be another terrific year!

  71. Amanda Baker on September 4, 2018 at 7:10 PM

Juna and Ivy inspire me! I see some names that are new to me so I look forward to exploring new techniques and expanding my style.

  72. Kristine on September 4, 2018 at 8:12 PM

Looking forward to the wonderful and inspirational lineup of artists in LFI2019! I am inspired by the old Masters and contemporary artists as well. Still at the beginning of my art journey, but always love the process and the opportunity to try new things. Thanks for this opportunity, Kara! Shared on facebook – already on your list!

  73. Kathy Ann on September 4, 2018 at 8:53 PM

I have enjoyed LFI from the first year in 2016! This past year has been a bit crazy for me and I haven’t actually participated much, but now that my life is calming down, I love that the 2018 classes are always accessible and waiting for me! So looking forward to the focus on mediums this year. So many wonderful the artists – Ivy Newport, Kara Bullock, Juna Biagioni and WOW! Robert Kelly…thank you for sharing his talent & style with us!
    Sharing right now!
Thank you for all the hard work you put into this awesome series, Kara!

  77. Vanessa Crossley on September 5, 2018 at 7:10 AM

Franz Marc is my first ever inspiration…
Having left art behind a good 25 years ago I’m only just starting to get the time to sketch and am feeling the real pull back – will die inside if I don’t create. Joan Martin is my absolute inspiration lately. Her way of working is just so free and different from what we learnt in the 80’s.

  78. Bianca on September 5, 2018 at 8:06 AM

I’ve realised that as an emerging artist I prefer painting portraits. I know that this course will help me develop this skill even more. I’m looking forward to learning from Kara herself as well as Mystele. I love Mystele’s messy painting where a figure emerges.

  79. Tamara Garner on September 5, 2018 at 9:33 AM

I’d have to say that Robert Kelley’s class on Let’s Face it was a turning point for me in my portraiture work. I had a crazy year and didn’t get to do most of the class, but Roberts work spoke to me. Next year looks fabulous and can’t wait to see what my new friend Ed has in store digitally!

  80. selkiepaints on September 5, 2018 at 10:18 AM

This was my first year discovering LFI, and it has been amazing! After floundering around in my art for years, I’m feeling focused and seeing real improvements in my work. Robert Kelley had such a dramatic effect on all my artwork, in terms of thinking in shapes and values rather than lines; and since I’ve secretly wanted to draw with charcoal for a long time (but had no idea where to start!) his class probably affected me most. I’m looking forward to lessons from the artists I’ve already been introduced to, as well as the new ones!

  81. Carokb on September 5, 2018 at 10:48 AM

My inspiration is Tamara Laporte. She is the one that learned me how to draw a face. And that way I realized I could draw, but just needed the right and positive teacher! Would love to win a spot! Shared on FB (Carokb)

Lucy Cooke’s first class is the one that has truly inspired me to jump out of my comfort zone and jump into Quirky Character drawing! I had reservations about taking the class but I am so glad that I did, the other students have shown me also that “we can all have fun” with art!!

  84. Andreina Bates on September 5, 2018 at 11:16 AM

  96. Purple Tulip Art Studio on September 7, 2018 at 1:54 PM

Every artist inspires me, no matter the medium, or the subject matter. When I look at another person’s art, I learn a lot, what I like, what I don’t like, possibly something I want to learn, but most of all I get a glimpse of what another artist sees which is usually quite different from what I see. They inspire me to look at everything differently and to consider how I can use that in my own artwork. ~Patti

. I have seen so many amazing and beautiful artwork. I first discovered Kara Bullock , it was her art that sent me on my path of realizing that I needed to pursue my art, that I had hidden away all these years. I also love Annie Hamman’s dreamy style . It is hard to single just one artist or several out. I think to me every artist is inspiring . to see their passion and vision on a canvas , or any surface , well it’s a piece of their soul, and to see a piece of someone’s soul to me is inspiring. as looking at a work of art …anyone’s work of art takes you to places of beauty ,magic and feelings and makes you think about life around you. Art connects you , and to me an artist that can make you feel that connection is inspiring. All artists are inspiring.
