THE TRAVELING ART OF SISTERHOOD - 2018

Are you seeking a creative community of women where you are accepted, where you are seen for all that you are, where your unique voice will be heard, and a place where you don't have to feel scared to share or create?  If you said yes to any of those questions, then The Traveling Art of Sisterhood is for you!  This retreat is a place of sanctuary, where space is held for all women, and where all women fit at the table!  We will sing, laugh, cry, and create!  Join us!  It will be the greatest gift you ever give yourself!

Brave stories, new friendships, digging deep, layering our hearts and souls on our canvas....these are all of the things that happen at The Traveling Art of Sisterhood retreats!  2017 was the first year that we held this retreat, and it ended up being more than our hearts had bargained for!  Connection, Community, Friendship, Empowerment, Free, and Powerful are some of the words that students used on our last day together to describe their experience at the retreat!  So, we are back for another go!  I feel  honored to get to bring this experience to women AGAIN!!!

Testimonials

My week at the TAOS, The Art of the Sisterhood retreat, was one of the best weeks I've ever had. I was truly inspired by the teachers and their creative lives and I learned something from each of the women that were there. It was a safe place to create, to share life stories, hopes, dreams and to cry. There was a good balance of types of classes. I enjoyed both the technical portrait lessons and the 'have fun and play' type lessons. I left energized and inspired. I am incredibly grateful to Kara for hosting the retreat and to all the teachers and women I shared the 5 days with.

-Melanie, Squamish Nation, Vancouver, Canada

"It really is hard to put into words how much I enjoyed being a part of The Art Of Sisterhood 2017 Retreat.  Before I registered my head kept coming up with all of the reasons I shouldn't go. I'm not an artist. It's too far away.  I can't afford it.  I will be traveling alone.  I won't fit in.  Despite all that chatter my heart was telling me to be courageous and go for it.  Something was calling me to Atascadero, so I trusted my heart, clicked on the register button and never looked back.  The retreat was 5 days spent among the most genuine, caring, amazing women.  Kara Bullock brought together a fantastic tribe of teachers to guide us through the retreat.  It was a joy to meet so many wonderful teacher/artists whose worked I had long admired online.    Kara, Deanna, Jennifer, Denise, Lauren, Sarah, Ivy, Tiare and Jackie - each taught from the heart and was beyond generous in sharing their gifts.  We laughed, cried, listened, chatted, played, created and formed friendships that I am sure will last a lifetime.  Attending TAOS retreat was by far the best gift I gave myself in 2017."

-Cathy, Pickering, Ontario

"I'm an extreme introvert, so it took a lot of courage to sign up for the TAOS retreat in 2017, and even more to get on the plane and travel for 16 hours to actually attend. I nearly talked myself out of going more times than I can count, and I'm so glad I didn't! I had expected to learn new techniques and come away with a whole bunch of new art skills, and yes, I got all of that. What I hadn't expected was the genuine sense of kinship, support, understanding, and true sisterhood I experienced every day I was there. Nor did I expect to make life-long friends, but that's exactly what happened! I came away with memories and experiences I wouldn't trade for anything. The experience was truly life-changing!”

-Elizabeth, Ottawa, Ontario

"The week that I spent with TAOS was so much more than I expected.  The art instruction was fantastic, varied, and taught by approachable artists who really worked at making our time meaningful and worthwhile.  Everyone, participants and teachers, was authentic and warm.  I didn't really know what I was getting into but as soon as I saw the posting for the class I couldn't stop thinking "that is somewhere I need to be." And it was so true.  I have shifted my art and am really happy with the outcome.  I'll be registering again as soon as Kara has it open."

-Christina, Idaho

"TAOS is absolutely magical, such a loving, supportive group of sisters in friendship and art you won’t find just anywhere.  There is no judging, no comparing, just a safe place where you all have art in common.  In my opinion, the art is truly secondary, you will laugh, you will cry and you will feel so comfortable immediately.    Incredibly open and  talented instructors so graciously sharing their artistic abilities and techniques.  Need a tribe—look no further, TAOS is for you, plan to meet and connect with new friends for life.  This retreat is the best gift you can give yourself.  I cannot wait until next year!"

-Michele, Colorado

"The TAOS retreat was supremely a one-of-a-kind experience.  I really loved learning from the variety of artist teachers and each one was so kind and generous in sharing their gifts and talents. The real heart behind this retreat was clearly the sisterhood.  There was some serious real-life true-blooded sisterhhod bonding that took place and it was way beyond anything I was expecting. The daily environment was safe and fun-loving and we found ourselves laughing till we peed our pants, sharing deep till we felt we've known each other all our lives, and crying till we hugged and comforted each other.  This retreat is about coming as you are and learning more about the art that we're all passionate about and learning to open up and be loved on while loving on others. I'll be one of the first ones in line to sign up again next year and I know my sisterhood sisters will be with me too :)"
