This About Sums Up Our Summer

Hello Long Lost Friends!

It has been so long since I have had a chance to post anything at all!  The featured image above of our son Brady about sums up how I have felt on many days this summer!  Our summer break has been far from what I would expect it to ever be!  We kicked off our summer with an end of year swim party/going away party for our neighbors.  It was a fantastic day, but ended tragically.  Our four-month-old Boston Terrier was hit by a car.  His hind legs were broken three times each.  Thankfully, he survived, but after surgery to repair the broken bones, six weeks of external fixators, and then a failed second surgery, it was discovered that it was necessary to amputate one of the legs.  So, we ended up with a six-month-old, three-legged puppy!  He is doing amazingly well, but it has been an emotional, and quite stressful, roller coaster that we have been on.

Aside from that, my husband has been home with an injured neck/arm since Memorial weekend.  An MRI showed the doctor’s that he had a bulging disc that was just not going to heal on it’s own.  We made the decision to move forward with a disc removal, and vertebrae fusion, procedure.  That was today.  He is through the worst of it, and now it is all about recovery!  I am hoping that we can end 2016 on a positive note, which would be a clean bill of health for our whole family!

Have I been able to art at all you ask?  It has been a challenge, but I have managed to squeeze in time for a couple of paintings.  With the Angels Among Us course coming up, I had to at least create and film one lesson.  I managed to do that and am so pleased with the outcome!!  I have a picture of this piece below.  “Who Needs Feet?” is a painting inspired by Friday Kahlo with wings.  This is the first lesson that I will be teaching in the upcoming Angels Among Us course.  I will also be giving this painting away.  Details will be coming soon on how you can win this painting!  To learn more about this class, click here.

I also had time this last week to paint “Farm Girl” which is also at the bottom of this blog.  If you have not already noticed, I love to paint/create people!!  It is my goal to just become better and better at drawing and painting faces/people (mostly women).  I love doing this so much, that I will also be offering a course, that will begin January 1, 2016, titled “Let’s Face it”.  I will be posting information under my workshops, and sending out a newsletter, that will share more about this shortly.

That’s all for now!  Hugs!

Kara
