I want to learn how to draw/paint portraits & figures within short increments of time or in a way that affords me the option to put a WIP down when I need to and then easily go back to working on it from where I left off. For example, often I’m only able to set aside small amounts of time. However for me, it takes a lot of focus & effort to work on them, and so when I put down a WIP I find it to be a huge struggle to return to the portrait and continue where I left off. I don’t know how to get into the same mindset or return to it, so I just give up on it. I enjoy learning about how to do portraits, but I get very discouraged with them since I don’t know how to break down the process (of doing portraits) in a manner that I may stop and easily return to them in a flexible & cohesive manner.

I’m excited to expand my creative process and to learn techniques that allow for better results. I love all the different processes and how diverse the artists are. I have always struggled with portraits and trying to get it right. What if it’s not about getting it right, but just getting it on the paper, canvas, or whatever medium is available?

I’m esuinterested in watercolour portraits. I feel watercolours bring out true facial expressions!

I love the variety but I am especially looking forward to any demonstration using waqtercolor.
I’ve used art as a therapy to get through severe mental health and chronic illness. Now I’m working hard to turn it into a career. By taking more lessons I will gain more technical skills and be able to apply these to my portraits. I’d live to learn how to do layers such as used by Ce Duff and Sabra Awlas Issa.

I honestly love being surprised every week with a new technique and lesson! I love drawing with graphite but I also love painting in acrylics and oils (watercolors still hate me ?) But for me, the attraction and continued excitement about a new lesson every week is the diversity and newness each week. As much as I love graphite, I would be bored and uninspired if each lesson used the same medium. I really can’t wait for Mondays to roll around now! ❤️

Everything about portraits!
After many, many years as an artist, I have been exploring faces and I became hooked! What took me so long?? I have been taking a deep dive into this and want to continue. My passion for painting has been renewed and I feel that I have finally found my voice! I have never done Let’s Face It, it seems scary to think it goes on for a whole year, but I am fascinated!
I have discovered my passion for art only since I retired. I am be to portraiture and would love to expand my knowledge and find my style.
I want to continue to my journey to freely develop my art. I’ve been with LFI from the beginning, and it is the best course and value available!
I would like to become proficient at drawing faces from the side.
I’d like to learn new techniques using different supplies and substrates and hopefully become more comfortable and confident in myself and my artistic abilities.

i would love to learn more about painting eyes. Not specific the realistic technique, but more: how and where the light comes in and how to change the light and the place/angle and size of the pupil to make emotions/expressions stronger.
So to get an understanding of what happens with an eye and eyelid at certain emotions.

I have been with you since your first year-a happy accident! Every year gets better and better, I want to to continue to refine my portraits and also make them more abstract. Right on target with the expert teachers you have this AND next year . BRAVO!
I am looking forward to year 4! I wish to learn… easy as it sounds… more about colour pencil use and blending.. it is the one material i find few lessons on. and its such a portable medium! In portraiture i would also love to learn how to create a more dramatic lighting much like the masters did . thank you Kara, for everything!

I’m so excited the time has come for LFI2023! I’ve been waiting! This is a course I’ve heard many amazing things about and I look forward to diving in for my first time and developing my overall portrait skills.
I look forward to gaining enough portraiture technical skills to begin developing my own style…. and I would love to get better at portraying a stronger likeness of the person.

I just started into the painting world and can’t get enough. It’s been the best thing I’ve done in all my sixty years. So much fun!
One idea I have is that I would love for each weekly lesson to have the normal and formal Part A, the actual lesson using the reference photo, and Part B, where we informally APPLY the lesson to our own reference photo and risk posting our results! I feel that applying the lesson might help me learn the technique more deeply before moving on. Of course, I have that posting option today, but formalizing that process might give me more motivation to apply the lesson before I forget it! Just an idea…

I would LOVE to be able to win a seat and have the chance to once again join the wonderful LFI community and learn from all the awesome teachers. Unfortunately, since my son (in 2017) and mother (in 2021) passed away, I haven’t had any classes available to me, and I am sure I am really rusty. My heart just wasn’t in it. I was left completely alone (I am an only child, as was my mum and also my son) and in a mess, both mentally and financially (mum supported us with her 2 pensions and I was her carer). After almost 5 years I know I am more than ready to get back into my passion – painting portraits, something to bring back some joy to my life, and art was always such a help to me when I was feeling down.

I found Kara Bullock Art at a time when I needed healing and solitude. I stopped drawing at the age of 12- I am 51 now. I picked up a pencil for the first time since I was 12! Thanks to this community, I have been able to foster my creative side again and work on an abundance of healing. I am looking forward to continued education, creativity and techniques. I appreciate that you continue to bring back the best instructors only. I would like to see no more music in the videos- aside from entrance music. For a long time I held the belief that I couldn’t draw and earlier this year I was able to overcome that. I would love to be able to expand my ability so it becomes second nature.
I would love to learn more technics of making backgrounds and how to use the materials and paint in different ways. I love how everyone has their own unique way of making a painting. It is like your own signature. Sometimes when i dont have time i just watch the lessons and it takes me right into the studio with the artist. It brings me so much joy and peace of mind on busy days.

I want to absorb all the art information I can. I lost sight in one eye as . I fear losing sight in my good eye as I age. I want to learn as much as I can so I can create as much as I can before I lose my sight. I want my kids to have something I created to be remembered for something great.

Excited for another year! I would like to learn a little more realism, just for the experience.
I want to learn more techniques for drawing faces. I have loved the classes I have taken so far.
I’ve lost my mojo and I need some inspiration to find it again. My manual dexterity has worsened and arting has been a real struggle. It’s been super frustrating and saddening and I need to figure out some new strategies and coping mechanisms so I can continue to create.
I am fascinated with the process of drawing and painting portraits. I try to take every opportunity to improve my realism – as much as I love to add a fantasy element to my portraits, my real goal is to create very realistic portraits. That is my goal over the next year. Better features, better shadows and light.
letsfaceit2023 would be an amazing adventure for me….. I liken it to the road less travelled…… ie have the will to do it but not had the opportunity. I have counselled many over the years and learnt to read faces, now in my senior moments I can reflect the stories of people through their facial expressions……a picture tells a thousand words. So please pick me so I can travel further on my own journey through art. thankyou……. The artist lineup looks amazing and I will share on FB with others.
This year was my first with Lets Face it. My mission is more faces, portraits, humans in general. I would also love to learn more about compositions including backgrounds and particularly florals with portraits.

Hi, I would love to learn new mediums perhaps and I’d really like to get better at the 3/4 view and also I’d love to learn more about values and contrast. I’ve been afraid of these for some reason and I’m ready to make the plunge. 🙂

I am in since the start 2016 and have already learned so much techniques and did get so much inspiration in those 6 years. I will be there again in 2023, this is my favorite course. I started everything on my mixed media journey and still I have so much pleasure in the weekly workshops. so what I hope to find in the 2023 course is inspiration, joy, sharing and some new techniques. I have shared on my Facebook page.

This looks like the best ever line-up – I didn’t know that was even possible. I would love to learn more techniques and fit them into my toolbox, and hope to become a more confident painter. This is probably more to do with working regularly, allowing and embracing mistakes and doing it anyway. So if teachers could share about ‘how they keep going regardless…’ that would be highly appreciated!

I would dearly love at least one lesson is in babies/children facial proportions. I have four grands under 4 1/2 and I have not yet been able to capture a likeness of any of them. I look forward to another great year of learning from all of these artists.

I have many interests in art and what I could l learn. You’ll never too old to learn and I’m still learning – things I haven’t even thought of when working with a certain medium. I’ve really enjoyed LFI 2022 and would enjoy LFI 2023. I started working on watercolor just a couple of years ago but recently work on portraits in acrylics. More acrylics (or acrylic with mix media) would be great.
I like the variety of styles and techniques each artist brings to the classes. I would like to learn and see more portraits with unique expressions, multiple people in a portrait as well! Also maybe a drawing or painting with a pet and a child In it!

I am perfectly happy to learn anything and everything! Every artist brings some new ideas and techniques and I’m open to them all. That said, I am pretty partial to digital art these days (especially procreate) so I’d love more of that.

I’m grateful for all the information about different techniques. Some techniques have been really fruitful surprises that I have continued to use in my art. I’m definitely going to sign up for next year.
I would love to learn how to let go and be free to love drawing faces, and to move on and let myself enjoy the next part of painting etc my faces. I spend so much time on a face (from memory not a pic) that after weeks of getting it perfect it ends up staying as a drawing as I cannot bring myself to paint it in case I ruin it. Kezzy 🙂

The last months I didn’t paint alot because of a tremor in my right hand, so I have to do what paintings of Let’s Face 2022. From the moment my hand is better I will continue. The classes offered cover a wide variety of techniques and use of different mediums which give me the opportunity to enjoy creating art even if it not up to the standard of other artists. Wonderful to be have an opportunity to be part of Lets Face It Art community.
I have learned so much from the classes that I’ve taken through this wonderful Art School and am so hungry to learn more! I am so grateful to all the amazing artists who share their expertise. I started taking the online classes during Covid shut down. these classes helped me to focus on the positive and use the time during isolation to get in touch with a new creative side of my self. I will always be grateful for this.
I’m excited to learn new techniques and styles. I’m starting out a bit late in life with this but I’m enjoying taking art classes and learning g new things. It’s a relaxation for me.

Of all the online courses, this is definetely my favoirite spot. Its a variety of teachers, methods and expressions, that one cannot but join every year. I cant say thank you enough to Kara and all her representative teachers. I do love urban sketch and Monochromatic figures in Charcoal and pastels. Oil portraits I have done so many in the past , but they never tire! All the past lessons have taught me so much that each year I come back to learn more! Thank you!

I have only completed 1 lesson from the 2020 LFI and was so happy with the outcome. It took me forever though! The thing I want to learn most is to know when to stop! I have struggled with this for so long and have overworked paintings to a point of not being able to save them. I would like to shorten my time on a painting and still get a great result. I realize it might be my own self criticism that makes me keep going, I have created some pieces I am proud of. Sometimes, when looking at one on the wall a few days later I’m surprised by how good it is, I will ask myself, how did I do that!? It’s a great feeling. Then when the next painting isn’t going well I get so defeated that sometimes I can’t get back into painting. At times I just stop before a painting is completed because I’m afraid to mess it up. It’s a real struggle for me to get to that medium place. I had never worked with fluids prior to watching the lessons through LFI and am loving it. All the different artists makes your classes amazing! I want to continue to learn more tips and techniques to become a better, streamlined, portrait artist!
