Of course I would love to be more comfortable when drawing those difficult angles since I’m terrible at those but one thing that I notices are the eyes, how important those are so I would love to get better at those and learn more on how to draw them and paint them.

For me faces are all about stories, as a narrative therapist in training this fascinates me. I’d love to do this course to learn new skills and explore my practice in painting faces. Deconstructing stories and then re-writing them through the language of paint.

    • Belinda Ryan on September 7, 2021 at 1:22 PM

I’d love to learn more about colour mixing of portrait skin tones. All races and their beautiful variations. As a New Zealander living in a multicultural city I’d love to be able to respectfully and accurately paint the people I see around me on the streets of our city. I’ve loved LFI 2021 and want to continue my journey with this class.

  24. Natalia Gorgona on September 7, 2021 at 7:32 AM

    Hi dearest Kara !!!
I shared your blog post on my facebook feed. and I have already singed up for your newsletter.
I would like to learn more about watercolor painting faces and air dry clay creations. Thank you so much
for the chance to win a free spot in this amazing class !!!

  25. Angela Talakoob on September 7, 2021 at 7:35 AM

I just want to learn as much as I can about drawing and painting faces. I only started learning this year and love it. Have already done some lessons with some of the tutors who are on 2022 and learned a great deal from them all. I also totally love the style of several of the tutors that I am aware of on the list it would be amazing to learn all I can from them.

  26. Sumaiyah Yates on September 7, 2021 at 7:42 AM

I would love more work on color choices for portraits and shading. Already on your mailing list and paid for LFI 2020, but have yet to start it… Thinking about LFI 2022 so I can be part of the current group of artists and have people to share with as we progress through the class together.

  27. Renee Zarate on September 7, 2021 at 7:54 AM

I learned so much last year and all I want is MORE! I just want to keep growing as an artist even though it might be just a little at a time.

  28. Wendy on September 7, 2021 at 8:01 AM

I want to expand my knowledge and skill in creating more complex and unique figures and portraits.

  29. qltmaster on September 7, 2021 at 8:05 AM

Continued growth in the expressions of portraits and figures is a big goal for me in 2022. The diversity in your teachers line-up is so exciting. Here’s to another year of LFI and expanding my skill set!!

  30. Cyndy Ross on September 7, 2021 at 8:22 AM

Oh wow! 2022 LFI sounds like it will be amazing! I am working on incorporating hands into my work. I would love to also work more on composition and narrative.

  31. Vanessa Buchanan on September 7, 2021 at 8:25 AM

I would like to further learn figures and portraiture in multiple angles, both hyperrealistic and a more free or interpretive style. I’d also like to learn to incorporate backgrounds such as scenery or the space someone is in.

  32. Suzi Leggett on September 7, 2021 at 8:25 AM

I would love to win a free spot in Let’s Face It 2022 because I still struggle with the nose and proper proportions of the face. I want my protraits to feel alive with emotion. I am also intimidated by hands, and tend to avoid them.
Being on a steep learning curve in my art and would love to acquire skills from these awesome and varied teachers. Thank you for this opportunity.

  33. Kristi Smith on September 7, 2021 at 8:29 AM

I would like to learn more about incorporating light (almost a glow) into some of the pieces. I’ve also struggled with blending acrylics. I look gorward to this upcoming year!

  34. Nardja Segui on September 7, 2021 at 8:35 AM

I would love to learn to be free when I draw faces, I don’t want to see my drawings or paintings up tight. I want to see the flow!

  35. Maggie on September 7, 2021 at 8:49 AM

I’d love to improve on drawing portraits.

  36. mermaidgenie on September 7, 2021 at 8:51 AM

  38. mermaidgenie on September 7, 2021 at 8:55 AM

  39. Naomi Swyers on September 7, 2021 at 9:11 AM

I would like to continue to learn to be more free in my rendering. This year, so far, has helped me so much. I have not been able to work on them in order. However I am continuing to go through this years classes. LOVE, LOVE the group!

  40. Shawn Sweeney on September 7, 2021 at 9:12 AM

I have limited experience with portraits/figurative art – so I will take any and all learning I can get on the subject.

  44. Libbi Corson on September 7, 2021 at 9:54 AM

I just want to continue to grow in painting portraits and figures in different mediums. I love how you have picked instructors and techniques that I would never thought that I wanted to learn…so I put myself into your hands again and wait to be surprised!!

I’m interested in discovering new techniques and materials.

  46. Jo fellows on September 7, 2021 at 10:25 AM

I would love to learn how to just go with the flow and allowing what wants to emerge.

  47. kathy reed on September 7, 2021 at 11:07 AM

Next year looks amazing! Always want to learn new techniques but would also especially like to learn and experiment with those that lean toward more abstraction.

  48. Bette Jones on September 7, 2021 at 11:23 AM

Excited for LFI 2022! I would like studies on the individual parts of the face and also the hands… I so enjoy the Let’s Face It Lessons!

  49. Jan on September 7, 2021 at 11:28 AM

I would like to become more skilled at drawing 3/4 or side profiles and also learn how to make my portraits more expressive. Would love to win a free spot on LFI 2022. Thanks for the opportunity!

  50. Tanja Sandmann on September 7, 2021 at 11:37 AM

Wooha! Just when I thought it couldn’t get better, you again proved me wrong! This looks awesome! I would love to learn more about how to express emotions, with eyes, gaze, expression or bodypose. Maybe do a double portrait. But I am convinced that, whatever the focus of the course, it will be great!

    • Tanja van den Broek on September 7, 2021 at 12:00 PM

ps shared and already on your email list 🙂

  51. Corinne Vivian on September 7, 2021 at 11:39 AM

Would love so much and i know Iwill learn so much

  52. Jennifer on September 7, 2021 at 11:54 AM

Hair, hair hair. I can get faces right after learning from these amazing teachers, but the hair always spoils my portraits. That being said, it looks like it will be a wonderful year of learning anyway.

  53. Cheri Kittel on September 7, 2021 at 11:55 AM

Let’s Face it has been my go to to learn so many valuable next step and inspirational ideas to make my work more of how I desire it to be. I frequent it randomly to observe, learn new skills and and practice my artform. I believe it assists me in finding my own style.
I wish to learn more on shading and light within a composition this year. Photorealistic portraits are always a desire as well.

  54. Corinne Bekker on September 7, 2021 at 11:59 AM

Wow. Great teacher line-up! I love the different styles of this diverse group of teachers. Then again I’d love to learn to blend the influences into a style of my own. I’m hoping to find a loose and expressive style that’s still able to show (some) likeness to the subject. Hard to achieve and it may take me a few more years. I’m happy to be part of LFI again next year. Dear Kara, thanks for all you do!

  55. Diana Dell on September 7, 2021 at 12:09 PM

I really need to learn to be more spontaneous in my portraiture and not try to paint a photo !!

  56. Trina Johnson on September 7, 2021 at 12:13 PM

I would like to know how to draw the face with more accuracy, (and not by using a grid), but really seeing the structure and placement of the features. How to achieve a likeness. And then really expressive eyes.

  57. Billie on September 7, 2021 at 12:32 PM

Hair and shading for those who use pencils, color and graphite.

  58. Christin Clausén on September 7, 2021 at 12:36 PM

I would love to learn how to make my portraits pop. I want to bring them alive and give them that little spark of something extra that makes them interesting and draws you in.

  59. Darcy on September 7, 2021 at 12:40 PM

I would like to learn to be free, to paint freely. Right now I feel tight and constrained.

  60. Jenny Sawyer on September 7, 2021 at 1:45 PM

I am looking forward to the lesson from Kathy Lewis, but also there are so many new artist-teachers to learn from in 2022. I love learning new techniques and could certainly do with some work on freeing up my style and relaxing more. Great line up Kara, cant wait for my sixth year of LFI.

  61. Amy / Toni Viaolo on September 7, 2021 at 2:20 PM

I really love some of the artists that are returning!!! YAY!!! Thanks for this opportunity to win a spot!

  62. Laura Walter on September 7, 2021 at 2:38 PM

Looking forward to continuing to let go and trust in the creative process. I am newbie but I and am impressed with the quality and talents shared on this site.

    • Jane Armstrong on September 7, 2021 at 3:20 PM

I am hoping to learn techniques for working with acrylics. I find them very challenging after working with oils.

  63. KRISTEN VARIAN on September 7, 2021 at 3:06 PM

I would like to be able to take what I learn in the classes and transfer that to my favorite medium which s soft pastel. I would love to create my own style! Thanks for this give away!

  64. Karen on September 7, 2021 at 3:12 PM

I would like to learn how to oil paint and learn about the different mediums available and what they do. Also any health hazards and how to avoid them.

  65. Karen on September 7, 2021 at 3:13 PM

I would like to learn how to mix oils to make the best flesh colors and mediums available.

I have already done a couple of portrait classes namely Larissa West and Lauren Rudolph. They have given me some new skills to work on but I feel a bit stuck at the moment and need a big push to improve my observation skills and discover how to bring more feeling into my work. I am unemployed at this time and do not have the extra $$$ to invest in art courses. I have been though the synopsis of this course and feel it is just what I need to push me to the next level…I will put my name down for early bird entry and try to scrap the money together to get in that way. I am really on fire to learn more. Winning a place would be sooo wonderful.Thankyou for the opportunity.

I adore LFI and can’t wait for the new year and all the instructors have to offer. I especially love when the instructors teach techniques I can use in my art. I would love to learn more about backgrounds, sealing paintings, and the business of selling art. I also wish someone would teach about the differences in mediums one can add to paint and what effects they create. I’m so excited for 2022!!!

  68. JMelanson on September 7, 2021 at 6:25 PM

There is nothing I want more than to be a decent artist. I need to clear my head of negative thought and ‘just do it.’ I’m really not that bad. I look forward to another year of Let’s Face It to keep me creating regularly and to keep me inspired. Thank you Kara and all the other wonderful teachers for your precious time and talents. Peace

I have looked at this course for a couple of years now. Due to financial and time restraints, I have aways held back. Not this time. I have watched the incredible output from this course and have seen some of these tutors’ work and am excited to see such a fabulous line up. Kara, you are an inspiration, your business acue, your creative processes and no doubt a super human/woman also. I am on the wait list, I am a student of creativity in New Zealand, and I am so often overwhelmed with choices and financial decisions but this is one I will be opting in for. I would love to win my spot, being a middle aged student, but am not willing to not do this this time. So fingers and heart crossed, count me in.

  71. Heidi Orndorff on September 7, 2021 at 10:33 PM

I am a newbie when it comes to portraits/faces. Haven’t practiced any drawing in a long time. Just looking forward to instruction, creativity and inspiration!

  72. Vicki Wright on September 7, 2021 at 11:06 PM

I want to improve my ability to create an accurate likeness of a person. It’s been a sort-if hit-or-miss process for me. I also want to be able to shiw a subject’s personality. Please help!

  73. Marjon Van den Bos on September 8, 2021 at 12:07 AM

Wow, I follow the Let’s Face it courses since the start in 2016. And still you surprise me. New teachers and so many new styles. What I love to learn in 2022 is to let go, find my freedom in art. I am already on the wait list. Although still 2021 and there a so much more lessons to follow the rest of this year I am already full with energy to start the new course next year.

  74. Manon on September 8, 2021 at 12:17 AM

I would love to learn to be free in portraits( still a little bit scared to fail) to find my style.
Learning technique from the best, to be inspired by other students .
To be in a save community where we help each other , by sharing and caring, to be connected by creativity

  75. Viv Rad on September 8, 2021 at 6:11 AM

I’m coming back for year 7. I look forward to Mondays and I am ever so grateful for this year long course. I would love to learn more about unusual lighting in portraits. From the videos and samples of lessons I think lighting is covered and it will be an awesome 2022???

  76. Valerie Banks on September 8, 2021 at 6:14 AM

Looking forward to learning how to create a portrait – all new to me! This looks like the most amazing programme.

  77. Carol Miller on September 8, 2021 at 6:30 AM

Love painting faces. Would love to learn how to paint more realistic faces 😉

  78. Dianne Theresa Lacourciere on September 8, 2021 at 6:32 AM

I am most comfortable using mixture of photographs and collage in my art.
It definitely would be beneficial to me to actually learn how to actually paint a person
Also always find it difficult with background. So would be interested in learning about those things

  79. inesmarial on September 8, 2021 at 6:42 AM

Well this is also my third year with LFI and cant wait for the 2022 one! I would not miss it for the world. Im not much on FB however I do the lessons at my own pace and have learned so so much that I have bought more and more courses on Kara Bullock’s site. She always brings the most interesting artist, different in many ways, but that is what appeals to me. Learn Learn and Learn again. This years schedule and artists are wonderful! Peace and love InesM aka Blue

  80. Natalia Gorgona on September 8, 2021 at 7:14 AM

Hi wonderful Kara !!! I shared on my facenook feed. I have already subscribed to your newsletter. I would like to learn more about how to paint a face in watercolors and I would like to learn to make creations with air dry clay. Than you so much for the chance to win a free spot in this amazing class !!! Yesterday I left a comment here but today I do not see it, so I leave one more comment in case something went wrong.

  81. Kirsten de Friend on September 8, 2021 at 7:26 AM

I would love to learn to be more relaxed with my art, kind of go with the flow. When teachers says “oh just put the paint anywhere, just be intuitive” mine always turns out terribly yet theirs resembles something wonderful. I am a work in progress!

  82. Diane Rickert on September 8, 2021 at 7:28 AM

I would like to be more loose in my paintings. Not necessarily draw every part of a face, just hints of the subject

  83. Claire Bull on September 8, 2021 at 8:03 AM

This is wonderful – would love to explore new techniques and Kara, I love your classes and portraits. Will be fun to see the other artist styles and ideas, this looks like the best schedule
Thank you for offering it , Claire

  84. Shelley on September 8, 2021 at 8:29 AM

    Kara,
I learn from any and every class you have. And, I would be thrilled once again to be a part of LFI 2022. This year,, my goal is to actually try to do the lessons and not be so self-critical. I love all the teachers you have put together, thank you!❤

  85. Yasmin Deboo on September 8, 2021 at 8:42 AM

Was a member in 2020; these classes are so great, I would love to do this again!!

  86. Linda Barrett on September 8, 2021 at 9:38 AM

More Deb Weiers please…I’m addicted 😀

  87. Kate on September 8, 2021 at 9:42 AM

I would like to grow in confidence in my abilities as at the moment I have very little of it! I think the variety of styles within Let’s face it will really stretch me and help me to build up my skills.

  88. joan craft on September 8, 2021 at 12:31 PM

wow, fantastic line up of artists for 2022. I would love to learn about shading and proportions
    ciao joan

  89. Mary Conner on September 8, 2021 at 1:08 PM

I’d love to learn how to draw an open mouth – smile, grimace, howl… I have trouble with teeth!

  90. Linda on September 8, 2021 at 4:18 PM

Oh my goodness I am so excited about this course. I have been zero creative for the past year. I am looking forward to the full portrait. I need this for arm placement hands, etc.

    Thank you so much

  91. Shirley Gordon on September 8, 2021 at 6:31 PM

Yep…here I am again…year 7!! As always, looking forward to my favorite online class. Am so excited to see the roster of many new instructors (love discovering their work) and also some of the artists I admire most from previous lessons. Thanks so much for continuing to bring such amazing content to us. It has been a wonderful journey! I don’t have a specific “want” to learn, but simply to continue to develop my style and art. The inspiration and guidance of LFI has brought me great joy.

  92. Ellen Wilson on September 8, 2021 at 9:08 PM

i would love to convey the emotions i feel when i paint, or draw.. find a way to let the medium show it all… i get stuck when i stop and look at the piece… and think.. thats not how i am feeling? i want to carry on, its hard to when that little voice says you failed…

  93. jeanette salib on September 9, 2021 at 4:44 AM

i’d love to learn more about working in oils, acrylics, and charcoal.

  94. Maxine Schutter on September 9, 2021 at 5:14 AM

I just want to learn as much as possible! I want to learn to be more brave and bold and free. I am grateful for all I have learned over the years here! ❤️

  95. Linda Maher on September 9, 2021 at 6:37 AM

I am looking forward to learning how to paint different angles of the face! Cant wait!! 🙂 shared on FB 🙂

  96. Heather Preece on September 9, 2021 at 8:12 AM

What an awesome line up for 2022, looking forward to learning new techniques from fabulous artists.

  97. Jeanne Champion on September 9, 2021 at 11:41 AM

Hi Kara: I have been fascinated with portraits since about 2018. I started my art journey in 2017 after some devastating health conditions. I’ve gotten much better at portraits but I have the greatest success with acrylics. I really want to learn how to do portraits in different mediums. I tend to get a real fear of trying new things because you get those gremlins in your head saying you can’t do it. I want to chase those gremlins away and learn all the ways to make portraits!! Thanks for the opportunity!! Jeanne Champion

  98. wwnut on September 9, 2021 at 4:03 PM

Let’s Face It is simply the best online class! The “trailer” for the 2022 line up looks fantastic and I can’t wait for all the fun!

  99. Jeanne on September 10, 2021 at 5:51 AM

I would live to be able to better draw 3/4 faces without having to think about it.

  100. Cathy Davies on September 10, 2021 at 5:38 PM

Wow, LFI2022 looks sooo exciting! All those amazing artists in one place! I’m looking forward to them painting what they want this year and picking up more tips and tricks to transfer into my own art practice. Thanks, Kara!

  101. Julija Vaitoskaite on September 12, 2021 at 3:06 PM

I want to learn better facial anatomy, more practical realistic portraits, love charcoal and more interesting options that provide a joy or deep reflections in creative exploration. I love the artistic atmosphere and the opportunity to be together at the art festival created by everyone involved in those courses.

  102. Carola Lugtigheid on September 13, 2021 at 9:01 AM

I would love to learn to paint hair (I think that is always challenging) and I would love to learn more different angles of the face. But it will be a great course anyway looking at the examples of the lessons. Shared the link om my Facebook. (already receive your newsletter) Thank you!!!

  103. Mikell Duncan on September 28, 2021 at 4:16 PM
