Description
This workshop will be focused on learning methods for creating lifelike, intentional and dynamic portraits. We’ll be using mixed media and combining traditional and unconventional methods. There are so many stages to embrace when creating a mixed media portrait, and together we’ll explore each one.
In this workshop, we’ll explore everything from preparing your canvas, creating a dynamic composition, picking a working color palette, choosing the best mixed media elements, and exploring the layering process. We’ll use paints, found objects, fabrics, papers and more.
Class size limited to 14 students.
**Supplies will be emailed one month prior to the workshop.
Workshop Schedule:
Friday, Day 1:
- 9:30 – 4:30 - Workshop
- Each day will consist of demos by Juliette and plenty of time for students to practice the process and create their own portraits.
Saturday, Day 2:

MEET JULIETTE BELMONTE
Juliette Belmonte is a Costa Rican born artist living and working in the southeastern United States.
Her signature style mixes traditional and abstract painting techniques and incorporates multimedia and found objects to create rich, layered portraits that evoke and inspire.
Juliette has moved extensively throughout her life in the US and central America and is currently based in northeast Florida. She is inspired largely by the colors, the rhythm and the people that inhabit her ever changing surroundings.
She has studied painting at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Students League of New York.
Some of her clients include Conde Nast, Hyatt Centric hotel midtown Manhattan, Library Collection wines, Brandenburg , University of Utah, Spirituality and Health magazine and numerous private collections.

Airport and Hotels
If you are flying in, the closest airport to the studio is Santa Ana - John Wayne Airport. It is about 5 miles away from the studio, with several hotels nearby as well. Our clients' favorite hotels are listed below.
Budget friendly and near the freeway
People LOVE staying in Newport Beach, at hotels or airbnbs. It is about 20 minutes from the studio via uber/car. There are also several Airbnb's closer to the studio, as well!
***there are hotels closer to the studio, but several that I DO NOT recommend. If you have questions about hotels, please reach out to me at karabullockart@gmail.com.
Workshop Policies: Due to limited class size, payment is non-refundable, but is transferable ONLY if the workshop sells out. If you purchase a workshop and are unable to attend, AND if there is a wait list for the course, we will offer your spot to a person on the wait list. If someone on the wait list is able to take your spot, we will reimburse you your tuition, minus a $75 admin fee for handling the replacement. If you are unable to attend the workshop, and the workshop has not sold out with a wait list, we will not be able to refund your purchase.
