STUDIO POLICIES - PLEASE READ

Join Kate Zambrano, in a small-group setting, where you will learn her atmospheric, portrait drawing technique!

In this class, Kate will go over techniques that alleviate the self-induced pressure we have while working. She will demonstrate ways to create an atmospheric portrait in a way that will allow us to get out of our heads and enjoy the process more. With these tips and tricks, you will be able to immerse yourself in the fun parts of drawing to create a strong and unique portrait.

Workshop Schedule

  • 10:00 - 5:00
  • Each day, time will be spent watching Kate demonstrate her technique, and plenty of time for student drawing!  Because this is a small group setting, Kate will have plenty of time to offer one-on-one support for the students.
  • 12:30 - 1:30 - Lunch
  • 1:30 - 4:30 - Continued drawing time
  • 5:00 - Doors closed until the next day

***Easels and small baker's rack/table are provided for students.  All levels of artists welcome - beginner to advanced.  Leave your belongings each day.

MEET KATE ZAMBRANO

Kate Zambrano is a self-taught artist living in California. She was born in Texas, but decided to leave at age seventeen to begin a semi-nomadic lifestyle.  Kate enrolled in college to study psychology, but realized that she was more into the subject than pursuing an actual career in the field.

In 2011, Kate was introduced to the world of fine art.  She spent the subsequent two years teaching herself how to draw.  The journey to garner techniques through trial and error seemed daunting, but every now and then a small epiphany would occur to push her forward.  Each step was a building block for the next.  And so it has gone ever since.  Kate is constantly learning and trying to better both herself and her work.

 

Kate enjoys applying her major influences together in her art - the systemic urge to understand human behavior and the beauty in expressive nuances.

If you are flying in, the closest airport to the studio is Santa Ana - John Wayne Airport.  It is about 5 miles away from the studio, with several hotels nearby as well.  Our clients' favorite hotels are listed below.

There are also several Airbnb's near the studio, as well!

***there are hotels closer to the studio, but several that I DO NOT recommend.  If you have questions about hotels, please reach out to me at karabullockart@gmail.com.

 

Workshop Policies: Due to limited class size, payment is non-refundable, but is transferable ONLY if the workshop sells out. If you purchase a workshop and are unable to attend, AND if there is a wait list for the course, we will offer your spot to a person on the wait list. If someone on the wait list is able to take your spot, we will reimburse you your tuition, minus a $75 admin fee for handling the replacement.  If you are unable to attend the workshop, and the workshop has not sold out with a wait list, we will not be able to refund your purchase.

***These policies also apply to a Zoom workshop.

 

Cancellations:  If the event does not reach the minimum number of participants, workshop may be cancelled. In this case, you will be notified 30 days prior to the workshop.  In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. If this is to happen, all purchased workshops will be reimbursed to students in full.
