    1. One of the best things about Let’s Face It class is that I can draw every day and not have to think about what I want to draw. It’s right there. I can hone my skills and be done. Love all the artists that Kara has put together for us. Cannot wait to get started.

      1. I’m always up for learning from different artists. You always amaze me with who you come up with! Then you always have my favorites too! Just looking to improve all the time!

  2. Wow, thank you for the many different ways to participate or acquire the course. I am impressed by the variety of artists! Thank you all for the preparations and your work that makes this course happen. I am really looking forward to learning new things!

    1. Thank you for the opportunity to win this awesome course. I would love to continue my art journey with faces, understanding expressions, values, angles and form.

    1. I’ve been waiting for LFI24. I’ve taken 1 other mixed media year long course and loved it. Now I would love to concentrate on learning portraitures and figures. Thank you!

      1. I can’t express how much I have learned through LFI 22 and 23. From all the different media’s and substrates and improving my drawing. I never would have tried acrylic ink and now it is one of my favorite. A crazy thing I struggle with is haw lines! So I hope to get better at that. Thank you for the opportunity, Kara!

    2. First of all, thanks for this amazing program and fantastic giveaways! I really hope I can follow this program, and learn the ins and outs of all these great artists. I make portraits my whole artistic life, but never had the chance to learn from professionals. To try, learn and practise from different artists will help me to find my own style.

    1. Hi. I have taken so many courses from Kara bullock art school with individual artists and all were really good and I I’m happy with every single of those classes. I would like to win a seat for let’s face it 2024 to learn the technique from other artists that I had no chance yet to know them or to take a,class with them.

  3. I would love to learn more about loosening up and becoming more abstract with my faces. I get in my head that they have to be realistic and sometimes lose the “art” part of it. I want to make them have some life in them and not just a flat image on a page. Thanks for this opportunity Kara!!

  4. I would like to learn to paint portrait with lost edges. Right now when I try it, it feels incomplete or on purpose or unnatural. I want to get that method of losing edges particularly in a portrait that pushes the muse to teeny bit towards abstract yet maintaining realism.

  5. Oh would like to get into more detail in features of the face. Thanks so kindly Kara for this chance. The line up is outstanding and what you’ve done here for this Let’s Face It course is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!! I hope for a win xo

  6. I am a newbie here, and love to learn from other artists in their techniques and styles. Art takes so many forms and it is a constant process of growth. Particularly curious on how these artists use different mediums to accomplish their work.

  7. Looks amazing! Thank you for this amazing opportunity, Kara!❤️ I would love to get inspired and to further develop myself. Ofcourse I’m already subscribed to your newsletter and I’ll share about this wonderful news on my Facebook ❤️

  8. I would like to learn to be fearless when it comes to being an artist – daring to run free and wild and dive in to art without considering what will be liked and what will not be ❤️ I would like to experiment in my own art and find my own style meanwhile encouraging my peers and be inspired by them ?

  9. I would like a full module using perspective lens of varied periods/great artists: cubism, surrealism, pointillism, pop art, impressionistic, etc. That would make for an interesting twist, especially for those teachers that have taught before……

  10. Art was one of my major subjects at school 30 years ago. What I learned always had me feel stiff and lacking flow and creativity. I recently picked up my brushes and am looking forward to learning a completely new perspective on creative expression from all of these inspiring and diverse artists.

  11. I want to learn quite a few things, but the ones that I am particularly interested in are: (1) how to make colour decisions as I seem to be useless at those :D, and (2) how to infuse a portrait with energy and personal interpretation without becoming enslaved by resemblance.

  12. I am a sculptor who loves to do relief portraits in clay. I want to study creating the face in 2D to support my 3D and relief work. I want to my work less seriously and have fun!!

  13. I would love to win this!! I have enjoyed being inspired weekly with all your amazing artist this year. My creative soul NEEDS to do it again in 2024!

I shared from your Fb page.

    Creative Blessings, April

  14. I would dearly love learning how to capture children’s faces to achieve a likeness. I always age them considerably and can’t quite figure out what is off. I used to take many online classes and now I stick to the best class and for me, it is LFI. Have not missed a year since it started.

  15. I love the diverse array of talented artists in LFI. Being able to experience a multitude of different styles, techniques, mediums and philosophies throughout the year opens the door to experimentation and growth as an artist. The possibilities are endless! I am looking forward to finding yet another exciting new to me ‘thing’ that ignites my passion as a creative!

  16. Can’t wait for let’s face it 2024 to begin. Would love to learn to paint facial expressions in more detail and to paint faces of elderly people. Thank you

  17. I would definitely like to learn accurate measurements, oil painting, also foreshortening. I have knowledge of these, yet I would like to get sharpened in these areas of expertise.

  18. I have Let’s Face It 2021 and other classes from Kara’s art school but haven’t been able to purchase anymore…crossing my fingers to win a spot ??

  20. I really hope to start achieving more looseness. I think I got close with a couple of pieces, but I know I have a long way to go in that regard.AND I love the connectivity that this group allows! I even got to have a meet-up with a friend recently on another continent!

  21. I am looking forward to Let’s Face it 24 because I love learning from all the different artists that contribute to that wonderful course. Exploring different approaches to portraits helps me in improving my skills and developing my own style, thus growing in my artistic expression.

  22. I am interested in how artists use colour on the face, figure and in the background. I would like to see work demonstrated where colour is a distinct feature, whether it is in vivid or pastel shades. I understand that knowledge of the colour wheel etc is valuable, but like to go for instinctive choices! So I’d like to see someone just choosing colours that feel right to them, suit the subject or have a wow factor. This is because just lately I’ve been reading a number of articles by artists more or less advocating playing by rules with colour.. and I just want to rebel!

  23. I would to learn how paint different ethnic skintones and features I have learned something from each instructors in each lesson I have taken.
    Looking forward to learning more.

    Peace,

    Rosie

  24. I would enjoy expanding my skills in all areas of portrait work via the different methods, techniques and lessons from the incredible line-up of teachers. As someone who has taken 2 of the Let’s Face It year long courses, the learning is immeasurable. Plus, it would be like it was my birthday, christmas and valentine’s day all rolled into one to hear you say, “you’re a winner.” 🙂

  25. I have a dream of a series of portraits that embody “Transformation” —that shift that happens when you are awakened to who you were created to be and everything changes!

  26. I would love to gain more confidence so that I might develop a style of my own. Learning from others is very stimulating, and I never in a million years thought I could paint anything. The course has taught me that “YES, I CAN!”

  27. I want to take this next year to study the human form and faces. To learn the subtleties of expression and body language. I’ve never been drawn to or been good at faces. But now, I want to create sculptures that capture so much emotion in the simplest forms possible.
I am dedicating this year-long study to my best friend whom I lost July 1st, of this year. She is my muse!

  28. One idea: since I always struggle with skin tones in different values, I think it would be a great learning experience to have an instructor squeeze out the same set of basic colors they use for all skin tones, then mix them differently to show us how to paint three relatively straightforward faces, one white, one black, one brown, maybe side by side, all using the same colors, but mixed differently.

Another idea: since I don’t feel my portraits really grab or evoke emotions in viewers, I think it would be a great lesson to show how to draw/paint “attitude” or emotion or stories in portraits. What specifically it is that really makes paintings different and impactful in that regard, rather than relatively “flat” emotionally even when painted technically well.

Finally: I don’t really understand how to think creatively about backgrounds, yet I see many others who seem to revel in creating interesting backgrounds. Mine are always kind of basic and not that interesting.

Anyway, I look forward to LFI 2024! Thanks for everything you do for us, Kara!!

    1. Yes Rose, so glad you mentioned pastels! I’d like to learn more about pastel drawing techniques for portraits and figures too! Many artists create portraits using pastels and there’s a great variety of options to select/teach about (soft, hard, oil, pan, or pencils). I’ve seen a few artists teach them and mostly they were used in mixed media portraits/ figures, which is also great to learn about! ?

      1. I already commented, but I wanted to post a separate one that has more feedback.
I truely love learning about how to create portraits & figures from the large variety of LFI teachers; their techniques, materials, and styles! It takes my breath away to see how a single lesson & image can produce so much incredible artwork! However, the artwork posted in the LFI Facebook group is both inspiring and intimidating! Seeing the range of quality, style, and ability-level, gives me both reassurance (I’m not alone with where I’m at), and motivation to keep going (maybe I’ll reach that level some day).
I’ve participated in LFI 2022 & 2023, but I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t had the confidence to post any artwork yet for either year. It’s scary to share artwork with artists that make a living from it or are at a level of creating art that far exceeds my current ability level. I hope that 2024 gives me a lesson where I create something great, but more importantly, helps me to become more confident about sharing my artwork with the amazing artists in the LFI Facebook group.

  29. I also would like to handle better the backgrounds with some special effects, not just one plain color. Transparencies in oils would also be an awesome topic. And thanks Cara for your thoughtful and profound efforts in always bettering such huge experience and opportunity.

  30. Honing my skills further. Also curious about abstract realism with portraits. Thank you so much for this opportunity and the community you have built, it’s awesome! ❤️

  31. I always enjoy being introduced to fantastic new artists and their style and techniques. I hope to enhance my confidence and competence with oils. As alway, excited and looking forward to another (9th) great year with LFI! You just keep upping the bar, Kara! Thanks so much!

  32. I have enjoyed 2023 Let’’s Face It and have become more confident with portraits. It is humbling to see how others have taken the lesson and made it their own. I have learned so much and look forward to even more in 2924.

  33. I love doing portraits and being a trusty user of the Procreate app I always enjoy finding ways to adapt/translate all kinds of creative materials and styles into digital art. I’d LOVE to get the opportunity of studying all these great artists and their methods.
    Fingers crossed!

  34. I would really like to learn how to convey feelings in a portrait, be it sad, happy, surprised, any emotion would do.
Thank you for this opportunity to learn from so many wonderful artists and a chance to win.

  35. The variety of styles and artists viewpoints is exciting! I am looking for flow and freedom of expression in my artwork to help with emotional impact, eg stop coloring within the lines :).

  36. I would love to try to draw in all the different ways that all the different teachers offer. To be inspired to find my own expression by trying all the different teachers’ expressions.

  37. I have to admit that faces intimidate me. So many of my favorite artists create faces in styles I greatly admire, and when I see they are some of your instructors, I yearn to learn from them. I’m about to turn 76 and have no formal training. I would be thrilled, seriously, to finally have a painting or two I could actually have pride in completing and leave for my family. I know I would benefit from each lesson, to acquire techniques and motivation to continue learning. Thank you for this opportunity.

  38. I love drawing and painting faces, but…I want to learn how to add dimension to my faces! (My parts are in the right place, they are just all flat!)
And then how to add more personality to them with color, facial expressions, and interesting poses.

  39. I would love to learn how to make expressive portraits so that as well as getting a likeness I can put feeling, emotion and movement into my pieces. I would also love to learn how to make mixed media portraits because I love to draw and would like to incorporate drawing mediums into my work.

  40. I would like to learn better how to do faces that aren’t straight on, as well as find my signature style that makes my art my own, even within the lesson itself.

  41. Hi Kara, this line-up looks so amazingly awesome! I can’t wait to learn from these alented artists! I would love to learn more oil painting techniques, but in truth I love learning all techniques if it’s portraiture as I adore doing portraits, it’s my favourite subject to paint/draw. I have share on my fb page <3

  42. I would really love to learn to paint in a really expressive and somewhat abstract way, but with enough skill that what I want to be recognizable is. I also want to get better at using light and shadow and avoiding hard lines, and to paint people who are not young and symmetrical and flawless – including wrinkles that aren’t just lines on the faces. Inclusivity is important, and it doesn’t get the representation in my work because I just don’t know how to do a lot of things justice. 🙁

My facebook page is pretty much entirely locked to a filtered group of people, but I have mentioned LFI before and will do so again, you have my word. And I already get your newsletter to more than one email address, heheh. Thanks for the opportunity!

  43. I would love to help the refugees I work with to enjoy painting. Learning about different skin tones would really help me encourage them to celebrate the beauty I see in them.

  44. Oh my word, the artists line-up are amazing! And Kara, you are so generous with your giveaways, thank you. I would love to get better at painting loosely this coming year.

  45. Would love to learn more about mixed media. How to incorporate it into our work. Also, art therapy. How creating art is so enriching for the body, mind, and soul and maybe how to begin working with art as therapy. Also, maybe more back to basics wrt color theory for us beginner artists.

  46. Would love to get a better grasp on using cool and warm tones in portraits. Shared to my FB page: Toni Viaolo.
Thanks for the opportunity to Win, Kara!

  47. I stay at home by myself with my dog. And I doodle and paint whenever I have the chance.. This would be an amazing opportunity and I love the Let’s Face It Packages. Yessssss for another year of this.

    Shelly

  48. I have participated in Face It the last two years. Also choosing extra classes. Just so enjoy the classes and FB group. Thanks for all you do Kara! Appreciate all the artist!

  49. I am once again excited to be learning new techniques from the amazing artists. I am particularly keen to explore some more in watercolour, charcoal, pencil and mixed media, and work towards developing my own style. I have explored some of the artists listed above and I am in awe of their work.

  50. I love Let’s face it. My biggest suggestion, would be to add the time it takes to complete each lesson somewhere in the lesson list. I have been short on time so lessons that take six hours I am delaying. But would love some quicker 30-60 minute lessons. And to be able to find those more easily. Not necessarily “learn” related but time management for the program would help to pick out a lesson when we aren’t able to keep up weekly.

  51. One of the greatest collaborations of wonderful artists. Perfect opportunity for those obsessed with creating faces and learning new techniques. Thank you for offering this!
