Join Melinda for this immersive three-day workshop where you’ll build specific skills for creating abstracted, emotionally resonant figures. Discover the power of the “unfinished figure,” explore color techniques that amplify emotional impact, and see how exaggeration can instantly transform the mood of a painting. Step out of realism and into your imagination. Leave with new inspiration and an expanded figurative vocabulary.
You will learn:
*New approaches to color which will give you skills to consciously select palettes to create harmony and emotional connection.
*Compositional skills to create tension, balance and unity.
*How to create an imperfect, more emotionally charge figure.
Oil or Acrylics are acceptable. Students should have experience with their medium (oil or acrylic) and some experience drawing or painting the human figure.
Day 1 – September 17
9:30 – 4:00 – Workshop
Each day Melinda will begin by offering new ideas, techniques and inspiration to the class. The majority of class time is dedicated to students creating while Melinda walks the room to deliver 1-to-1 feedback to her students.
