READ STUDIO POLICIES

Would you like to create soulful mixed media faces? In this workshop Jenny will gently guide you through her tactile, layered process, from the first marks all the way to a face that feels alive and full of soul. We’ll work with mixed media on both paper and stretched canvas, using paper collage, acrylic paint, mediums and inks to build rich, textured backgrounds. From there, we’ll draw and paint faces in a simple and fun way. Together we’ll work with transparent layers and bring the faces alive through the eyes, where so much of the feeling lives.

Along the way, Jenny will share all her favourite techniques: how to create grunge, how to work with transparent layers, and how to keep the work loose so it stays alive. We’ll soften the inner critic together and practice letting go of perfectionism by embracing the messy middle. This process is tactile, expressive, and a little imperfect on purpose. It’s about trusting the process, listening to your own feelings, and watching your work expand as you go. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as experienced artists.

Meet Jenny Grant

Jenny Grant is a mixed media artist based in Stockholm, Sweden. Jenny is on a mission to help people be brave, use their creativity, and do more of what they love.

Jenny’s work is bold and full of energy, and it often carries a calm feeling too. Jenny creates in an intuitive way, building her paintings layer by layer using paper collage, acrylic paint, ink, crayons, and whatever else feels right in the moment. It is all about the process, the doing. To actually get messy and just do. Her process is bit unstructured, tactile and yes, quite messy and through that she is able to open up the magic of what is unique within her.
Jenny loves painting faces, and especially eyes. A face is never just a face. Jenny paints it in transparent layers to create the history of the face, like the layers of life that make up a person.

Alongside making art, Jenny is a passionate teacher. She runs in-person workshops and retreats (in Europe, Australia and the US), teaches online classes for students around the world, and hosts Café Flow – the Art Club, an art membership for people who want support and inspiration to keep showing up to their creativity.

For Jenny, art is deeply personal, a way to connect with yourself and what you are feeling. In Jenny’s workshops you are invited to let go of pressure, trust your own choices, and discover what can happen when you give yourself permission to create. Her creative process and approach has helped the creativity blossom in herself and in thousands of her students and she is so excited to share it with you to inspire you to expand and grow yours!

The door to the studio is on the first floor, in the front of the building, next to the mailboxes.

Parking is available on the street. Students will also be emailed a map to a parking lot.

AIRPORTS AND HOTELS

If you are flying in, the closest airport to the studio is Santa Ana – John Wayne Airport.  It is about 5 miles away from the studio, with several hotels nearby as well.  Our clients’ favorite hotels are listed below.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Due to our limited class sizes, workshop tuition is non-refundable.

However, if you are unable to attend and the workshop is sold out with a wait list, please contact us. We will offer your spot to the next person on the wait list. If we are able to fill your spot, your tuition will be refunded, minus a $75 administrative fee.

If the workshop is not sold out or we are unable to fill your spot from the wait list, we are unable to issue a refund.

***These policies also apply to a Zoom workshop.

CANCELLATIONS

If the workshop does not meet the minimum enrollment, it may be cancelled. You will be notified at least 30 days before the workshop and will receive a full refund. In the rare event that a workshop must be cancelled due to an emergency or circumstances beyond our control, all workshop tuition will also be refunded in full.
