Thank you very much for the online course. I learned a lot, both about using technical tools like Photoshop and about how to select colors and balance them so that they “communicate” with each other within the image. I already understood the concept of picking up colors from the clothing or background and reflecting them in the faces, but here I was able to see exactly how it works in practice. That was really great. Thank you Amy! Thank you Kara! I would definitely recommend this course 🙂

Another thing I really like on this course is the way you choose your subjects, but also seeing that your vision for the composition doesn’t always work out, and that you have to be open to find new solution in terms of colour and form. Thank you very much, Amy

I was so excited when I saw this course announced and couldn’t wait to start as I had been doing similar work in portraits but didn’t know how to work with color in a more personal way. Thank you, Amy, for your clear explanations, and for showing how to move in an organic way assessing the different aspects of the painting process.

It was revelatory to see you take a painting from an idea to a finished work. Thank you so much, Amy, for sharing your process with us. I am excited to embark on a series inspired by your course. Excellent value for time spent. Cheers.

I’ve just finished watching the last lesson. Thank you so much Amy . I feel I have learned a lot ….. the proof of the pudding though ! I struggle to become looser in my painting and I love the way you built up the layers and left the background colour in some places . I can’t wait to get started and I am going to go back and watch your lessons as I paint.
I adore your work and am so glad for you that you are now painting full time .
Thanks also to Kara ( Kara ,I also love your work ! ) for facilitating this.
Amy I live in Ireland so can’t take part in person in your workshops so please do another on line one in
the future . It is a real bonus also to be able to have these videos and refer back to them.
    Thank you, Thankyou 🤗🤗🤗

Wow, an engaging demonstration by Amy! Loved hearing her thoughts as she made decisions and reconsidered others. Certainly visible is Amy’s long experience with these decisions -especially the use of colour. The camera close ups of Amy painting the delicate facial features was a bonus for me! She made it look so easy! Since I’ve been following Amy prior to the release of this course I was so excited to enrol. Not disappointed!!

  8. Heidi Matherne (verified owner) –

I really enjoyed this course. Amy is one of my favorite artists. I love her bold choices. Her approachto tackling the painting and making adjustments, observing, working slowly were the reminders I needed.

Thankyou Amy, that was so helpful to see your process. I would love to follow anymore demonstrations you put out

I really enjoyed this course. Amy is a great teacher and easy to follow along with. It has opened my eyes to new techniques and inspired me to be bolder with my colors. It has encouraged me to paint looser. Really fun and worth taking!

Every artist works a bit differently, and I found some great takeaways in Amy’s way of working. Especially helpful were her discussions of values and her effective use of limited colors, especially with the red. Lots of food for thought and things to try out!
