   I waffled so long about whether to take this years course. My husband (maybe sick of my whinging said DO IT ALREADY!!! and I’m SOOOO glad I did. I’ve always been drawn to faces and wanted to include my own drawing/paintings into my mixed media work and this year long deep dive has definitely given me the confidence and skills to do so. But it’s also broadened my entire artistic outlook as well. I mean it only makes sense if one creates a dedicated practice, you’re going to get better but it’s more than that. Working alongside the wide spectrum of instructors, using different mediums, essentially seeing through THEIR eyes has honed my own vision. I am so SO thankful I discovered Let’s Face It and that my husband shoved me out of my comfort zone to enroll. Highly HIGHLY recommend!

   I joined LFI the first year Kara introduced it in 2016. I have been here every year since. I have seen the transformation of not only my own art, but fellow artists and Kara herself as she led us on this journey! The quality of lessons, videos, artists, additional information and support is unsurpassed, and far exceeds the cost of the course! It is my gift to myself which I eagerly await each year.    I have taken several online art classes. This site is my very favorite art class site. I love the Let’s Face it class. It is such a great value with so many teachers and lessons throughout the year. I have been introduced to so many mediums I have never even tried. The teachers are so nice, positive and encouraging, and the Facebook community is one of the most positive one I have ever been part of. I have learned so much because of Let’s Face it classes last couple of years. I even submitted one of my pieces to the juried art show and my art was accepted and displayed in the museum. This is all because of Just Face It classes. Thank you Kara.

   I am fairly new to painting, starting with my retirement from a career in architecture during the pandemic. I always kind of knew that I would enjoy painting and a friend recommended Kara Bullock’s online school (it was the pandemic, after all). I took several online classes which I loved (still life, floral, landscape) but didn’t think I had the ability to approach portraiture. Kara’s offering of Let’s Face It seemed like a good deal, so I started with it in 2023. Let’s Face It 2025 is my third year and I am hooked. There’s just something about capturing the spirit of a subject that is so rewarding! I appreciate the different teaching styles, mediums, poses, and helpful hints. There are so many lessons (what a good deal!) and the teachers are so talented! I have been amazed to see my own growth, thanks to the Let’s Face It classes. Looking forward to Let’s Face It 2026!

   LFI25 has been truly inspirational. I retired 2 years ago looking forward to having time to paint. During year 1 I created nothing, I felt blocked and uninspired. I joined LFI25 and during year 2 of my retirement I have not stopped creating! I have learned so much, using new mediums, new techniques, which has taken me down many new paths. Some things work, some don’t, but I really don’t care because I have enjoyed creating all of my pieces. I feel like I am finding my voice, or my style, and I know this wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t have joined. I love it!

   LFI 2025 has a wonderful range of artists that show a beautiful selection of portraits for varying skill levels and mediums.    Experiencing the use of different mediums by different teachers every week has been amazing every single week. The teachers have been interesting and their art has been inspiring! I highly recommend this learning experience to many of my friends. Whether they are beginners or advanced, this is well worth every dime.

   Am a multi-year LFIer, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2024. Kara curates by far the best year long course in content and value. LFI literally changed my art direction and life by opening up possibilities, ideas, techniques, an active supportive community which allows you to grow and gain confidence. Kara has evolved this course keeping it current and always providing those “gems” to keep us involved.

    This is my first “Let’s Face It,” and every lesson has been truly inspiring. The variety of artist instructors and mediums explored has made this an incredible journey of creativity and learning. I’ve rediscovered some favourite forgotten techniques and felt inspired to try water-based oil paints, having only used acrylics before. I’m discovering how different this new medium is and how beneficial it can be to work with. I’m excitedly looking forward to “Let’s Face It 2026” and the chance to continue my portrait journey.

    I have been taking Let’s Face It since 2016, and it has truly transformed my portrait journey. Before joining the course, I struggled with many aspects of portrait painting – from mixing realistic skin tones, to placing facial features correctly, to developing a personal style and finding my own artistic voice.

    Since becoming part of this program, my portraits and skills have grown enormously. It has been a journey of learning, experimenting, and building confidence. Today, I feel much more connected to my work, and I approach portraiture with both joy and trust in my abilities.

    I would recommend the Let’s Face It course to anyone who’s either just beginning their art journey or who is looking for inspiration and new ideas to build upon their current practice. It’s CRAZY to get access to so many classes and such incredible teachers at this price! As artists, we all struggle with finding inspiration or motivation at times, and the Let’s Face It course offers something fresh and engaging each week. Also, the community is the best artist’s group I’ve ever been a part of — fellow members are so kind and supportive, and they, too, inspire me every day. If you’re considering an art course, this is the one to join!

    This is my first time taking “Let’s Face It” I had been looking at the course earlier but didn’t feel confident enough to sign on. Think I only had painted 5 portrait painting before I signed on – and they took ages to finish. I knew I needed help and inspiration If I was to going to move on with my painting. December 2024 I decided to give myself “Let’s Face It 2025” as a Christmas present. What can I say – The best present ever!! It is like a hole new world has opened up. Love to se how different artists start their painting and all the different style. I have so much fun trying new things and learning so much. The best part is you can do it in your own pace and the community is so supporting. If you love painting/drawing this is the best place to be.

    I recommend this course to anyone who wants to paint, whether you’re a beginner, a returner, or well-established but looking for a bit of community and structure in your practice. The weekly classes are high quality, and perfect for either following along with the artist, or using as a springboard for doing your own thing.

    I’ve joined Let’s Face It for the past two years, and it has been part of my journey from believing I can’t do portraits to enjoying painting, and building a daily art practise.

    For the price, it’s an absolute steal.

    I have grown so much in skill and confidence after just this one year of LFI. The range of styles and techniques shared by the instructors is phenomenal, the variety of portraits/projects pushed me out of my comfort zone in a very good way, and the support of the community is priceless. Being free to choose between copying the style of the instructor, or to complete the project in my own way was liberating, and I found that techniques I had enjoyed or picked up from previous classes tended to find their way into future projects and build upon themselves. It has been a great year of artistic growth for me, and I am so grateful for everything I have learned from this wonderful group of people. I highly recommend taking the LFI journey!

    Hey! This year long course IS a great idea!! It is full of truly amazing lessons with a line up of incredible teachers to guide you along the way! Let’s Face It is where I learnt, bravely learnt, to let portrait creating into my life. I say bravely learnt because all my life I’ve created all kinds of art since I was young but I stayed away from portraits because I feared them and thought I couldn’t possibly do such. Then I ran across Let’s Face It in 2022. I put my fear aside, braved up and challenged myself to the course. It was the bestest decision I tell you. The teachers guide you and share so much in each lesson. You can ask to receive feed back and also post your work on a FB Group if you wish. I’ve learnt so much along the way in this course and feel so grateful that I did it. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to remind myself I really did these portraits sitting in my studio just because I took the course. AND I chuckle to myself while saying, What was I so afraid of!!! I have been in Let’s Face It for 3 years. 2022, 2023 and 2025. I enjoy the diversity of the courses. You can see that Kara has put a lot of work into how the course is put together and travels through the year with each of the lessons that are set up for each of the weeks with incredible Artist-teachers. I recommend you jump into this world if you haven’t! It’s absolutely worth it!!!! Come on and join!

    Just before I found Let’s Face It 2025, I had finally decided to go all in on portraiture. I had dabbled here and there over the years, but I hadn’t found a teacher to take me to the next level. Joining LFI2025 felt exciting, but I had no idea what an incredible experience it would turn out to be.

    The teachers are outstanding, and the classes that arrive each week are both thorough and inspiring. I’ve been introduced to new instructors, explored mediums I’d never touched before, and experimented with artistic styles I wouldn’t have tried on my own. Each lesson has stretched me as an artist in ways I didn’t expect.

    Because of LFI2025, my skills have grown, my confidence has deepened, and I feel more motivated than ever to continue learning. Let’s Face It 2025 hasn’t just improved my art… it’s changed the way I see myself as an artist. I’m deeply grateful to Kara for creating a platform that’s both inspiring and genuinely supportive.     Being part of the Let’s Face It portrait course has been such a rewarding journey for me. What I’ve loved most is the sheer variety – there are so many different artistic styles taught by an incredible range of artists, each offering their own unique perspective. It has really opened my eyes to new approaches, and I’ve found myself experimenting with mediums I had never even considered using before. That in itself has been both exciting and transformative for my practice.

    The course is brimming with inspiration, and having access to such a diverse pool of creative styles has given me a fresh sense of energy in my own work. Beyond the lessons themselves, the support from fellow artists on the private Facebook group has been invaluable – it truly feels like a nurturing and encouraging community where everyone is invested in each other’s growth.

    I also want to highlight Kara, whose support and guidance throughout the course has been absolutely brilliant. Her presence makes the whole experience feel personal and cared for, which is something that sets this course apart. Considering the wealth of knowledge, inspiration, community, and encouragement packed into the program, I honestly feel it is excellent value for money.     I started taking Let’s Face It in 2020, just as Covid was gearing up. While I had drawn and painted portraits before, facial structure and proportions were real weaknesses, and I wasn’t really improving on my own. The thing that attracted me to the course was that it was a year-long commitment and that there was a new lesson each week. I figured I could do that if I put my mind to it, and working on portraiture for an entire year would surely improve my technique. I was also attracted to the price, because you can pay that much (or more!) for a weekend course, so to get that many lessons over the course of a year was a real bargain. I kept taking the course each year thereafter for several reasons. First, I really liked the variety of instructors and projects presented. I didn’t do every single lesson because sometimes I just wasn’t attracted to that image or medium, but the good thing with this course is, there’s another artist and lesson coming up the following week! Second, after participating the first time, I had joined the Facebook group and made a bunch of online friends who remain my artist buddies to this day, and I also befriended some of the instructors, who have been invaluable mentors. Third, it’s a valuable space to receive critique; I first took art classes in a college environment, and was used to putting my work up on the wall each week so my fellow students could give me feedback and advice, and I have always found this so useful. As for whether I made progress with portraits…taking the first one during Covid quarantine made my experience extreme (I wasn’t leaving the house, so I had a lot of free time!), but this course also excited me so much about painting portraits that I made 176 of them that first year. I took on a second medium—I was primarily a watercolor artist but am now painting many portraits and still life paintings in acrylics. All in all, taking that first course and continuing for five more years has been one of the best decisions I have made as a student and an artist.

    I would totally recommend anyone to take one of these courses! I learned so much when I participated. The variety of styles and all different kind of techniques is just amazing!
