Description

Join Derek Penix as he guides students in this three-day workshop to paint from photos using oils (acrylics are allowed as well).  Students will have a choice of working from dozens of photographs consisting of trees, boats, cityscapes, figures, koi, and hanging fruit.  Students will also have the option to paint from their own photos if they choose.

Workshop Schedule:

 

Wednesday, Day 1:

  • 8:45 - Doors open
  • 9:00 – 12:00 - Demo
  • Derek will begin the day with a demo, and complete a painting while the students observe.
  • 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch
  • 1:00 - 4:00 - Students will begin working from their photos of choice.
  • 4:00 - Class ends

 

  Thursday, Day 2:

  • 8:45 - Doors open
  • 9:00 – 12:00 - Demo
  • Derek will begin the day with a demo, and complete a painting while the students observe.
  • 12:00 - 1:00 - Lunch
  • 1:00 - 4:00 - Students will begin working from their photos of choice.

**Space is limited to 12 students so Derek can give extra one-on-one time to each individual.

Important Information

Supply List:

  • 3-4 smaller oil primed smaller canvases around 12x12, and 9x12 in size
    or sizes you would prefer.
  • Filbert #6, #4, #2, #0
  • pallet knife,
  • Gamsol thinner
  • I tend to use the following colors but you can use your own preferred
    pallet if desired.  Brand of paint does not matter. 

    • Titanium white
    • Cad Yellow light
    • Cad yellow medium
    • Cad yellow deep
    • Cad orange
    • Cad red light
    • Permanent rose
    • Cerulean blue

Workshop Policies: Due to limited class size, payment is non-refundable, but is transferable ONLY if the workshop sells out. If you purchase a workshop and are unable to attend, AND if there is a wait list for the course, we will offer your spot to a person on the wait list. If someone on the wait list is able to take your spot, we will reimburse you your tuition, minus a $75 admin fee for handling the replacement.  If you are unable to attend the workshop, and the workshop has not sold out with a wait list, we will not be able to refund your purchase.

 

Cancellations: If the event does not reach the minimum number of participants, workshop may be cancelled. In the very rare event of an emergency or unavoidable natural disaster or act of God, the class may be cancelled. If this is to happen, all purchased workshops will be reimbursed to students in full.
