Do You Love Animals?  Would You Like to Learn to Bring Dynamic Emotion and That "Engaging Factor" to All of Your Pet Portraits?

Join Robert Kelley in ANIMAL PORTRAITS IN CHARCOAL, where you will learn to bring dynamic emotion and that “engaging factor” to all of your animal portraits!  Watch Robert demonstrate his technique while drawing a dog, a cat, and a horse.  Robert will share two different ways to begin a portrait, both relying on our drawing “friends”, drafting, and values.   Learn to capture the spirit and soul in animals that pet lovers are drawn to.  Whether you love to draw animals or want to begin including them as extras in your portrait and figurative work, you are sure to learn a lot in this course!  We hope to see you there!

DESCRIPTION OF LESSONS

This course contains five complete lessons, from start to finish, on drawing five different animals.  Since there are so many dog lovers out there, I decided to draw a few dogs, but then I also added in a cat and a horse.  We will start off by demonstrating my typical way for building out a drawing, whether it be a face, an animal, a landscape, and so on.  I will show you my method for using shapes and values to create animal portraits.

Along with that, we will also discover some new techniques for creating more interest in your work.  I will show you a technique using tape to block off areas.  In another lesson, I will show you how to start off a drawing with lines and measurement.  You will watch as I animals with short hair, and long hair, so that you gain an understanding of what techniques to use to create the details that make up each animal.  Our final lesson will show you how to draw a horse in a field.  Creating a story through subject and setting is something I love to do, and I am excited to share this process, and more with you in ANIMAL PORTRAITS IN CHARCOAL.

MEET ROBERT KELLEY - ARTIST/INSTRUCTOR

RobertandBilly

I am Rob Kelley and I am a fine artist/illustrator with a focus on portraiture! I live in Stockton, California, and am a single dad to three children. I studied graphic design at UC Davis and then went on to study illustration at Academy of Art in San Francisco. Although I have had an extensive education in art, I abandoned art for most of my adult life. That changed, 4 years ago, when my life hit a dramatic shift. At this time, I began looking at why I was in a constant state of low-level unhappiness and discovered that I had abandoned my true and authentic self. I knew that the one thing I needed that had been missing was art! Since then, I have adopted a sink or swim mentality!

PRIVATE GROUP JUST FOR YOU!

This course will have a private Facebook group just for you!  The artist will be actively involved with the class via Facebook the first four weeks the course is open!  After that the course will be a self-study.  The artist may or may not be involved after the four weeks.  We are looking forward to seeing your artwork!
