People often have questions when it comes to the artwork and videos created for online courses. Below I have listed and responded to the most common questions I have had. If your artwork looks exactly like, or very similar to the lesson, it is recommended that keep that as a learning experience. If you are using a completely different reference photo, and the artwork does not look like the lesson, then it is probably safe to sell. When in doubt, reach out to the artist/instructor.
If your artwork looks exactly like, or very similar to the lesson, it is recommended that you do not enter it into art exhibits. Often, entries need to be original ideas. If your artwork looks exactly like, or similar to the lesson, it is recommended that you keep it as a learning experience and do not make products from the artwork. When it doubt, reach out to the artist/instructor.
If the video that you create is sharing the same process, with the same reference photo, etc. and it is exactly like the one that I created in my classroom, then I am not comfortable with you filming that. If you are taking a technique and creating something new on your own, then I
am comfortable with that.
