Have you ever have experienced change in your life and had a difficult time accepting the effects that came along with it? Well, if you have, then you are not alone! This project is all about accepting change and seeing it as beautiful and positive, rather than scary and negative. Often times, how we look at a situation will affect our feelings. This piece was a reflection of my own experience with recent changes in my journey and how accepting them has helped me evolve from a caterpillar to a butterfly!
In this lesson, I will walk you through the process of finding inspiration and a color palette, sketching your project, and then using mixed media to complete the project.

Supply List:
- 16×20 wood cradle board
- Stabilo All – black
- White gesso – I use Liquitex
- Tissue Paper or other scrapbook paper
- Brayer
- Matte Medium – I use Golden
- Golden Heavy Body Acrylics – Carbon Black, Titanium White, and Napthol Red Light
- Neos II – I use Raw Sienna, some reds, and an aqua
- Charcoal stick – soft
- Paint brushes
